Abstract

1,006,105. Casting refractory materials. GLAVERBEL CO. Ltd. June 29, 1962 [July 4, 1961], No. 25118/62. Heading B5A. Refractory materials are cast using a pouring tube extending from outside a mould to within it and separate from the mould itself. Fig. 3 shows a pouring tube having a lower orifice 6, lateral feed orifices 10, supporting legs 5 and a stream breaking disc 9. Disc 9 is so spaced as to favour flow through orifices 10. The pouring tube may be of the same material as that being cast, or of a material weldable to the casting material. The disc 9 may be fusible at casting temperature. The pouring tube may be moved relative to the mould during casting, horizontally or obliquely.
