Abstract

100,599. South Metropolitan Gas Co., and Chandler, D. Jan. 3, 1916. Gaseous-fuel furnaces; regenerators.-In a gasfired furnace for melting metals &c., the gas and air supplied to the burner are mixed in chambers provided with tortuous passages and heated externally by the combustion products of the furnace, which pass through tortuous flues surrounding the gas and air heating chambers. Fig. 1 shows a crucible furnace with a regenerator at each side. Each regenerator comprises an outer chamber h provided with horizontal baffles n and an inlet i and outlet i for furnace gases.
