Abstract

100,532. Soc. Nouvelle des AÚroplanes P. Schmitt. May 22, 1915, [Convention date]. Shock of landing, deadening; floats, arrangement of; land wheels.-A shock-absorbing device for aeroplanes or hydro-aeroplanes is adapted to resist shock in any direction and is described as applied to a machine having one central and two side floats. The three floats 8, 9, 9 are secured to transverse axles 2 which are connected to longitudinal members 1 on the underframe by rubber bands 7. Pins 6 mounted in plates 3 on the axles 2 are also connected by pairs of rubber loops 4 to brackets 5 on the members 1. The shockabsorbing device may be applied to hydro-aeroplanes having only one float, or the floats 8, 9, 9 may be replaced by land wheels mounted on the axles 2.
