Paints and coating-compositions.-The edges of boot soles and heels in which rubber layers are arranged between the leather lifts are coloured with a mixture of " Stockholm tar " and " Paraffine," the quantity of the latter being just sufficient to moisten the tar. This gives the edges a uniform dark colour, waterproofs the joints, and is capable of being polished.
