1,004,481. Hydraulic suspensions. MOULTONS DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. Jan. 21, 1963 [Jan. 25, 1962], No. 2874/62. Heading B7D. A vehicle suspension system of the kind in which the vehicle sprung structure is supported on the wheels by two or more separate hydraulic systems each including liquid under pressure, there is provided in association with either the hydraulic system forming part of an individual wheel suspension, or in the case of a system of the conjugate hydraulic type, the hydraulic system at each respective side of the vehicle, an auxiliary hydraulic accumulator spring housed in a dead space of the vehicle sprung structure, e.g. under a mud wing thereof, liquid communication between the respective hydraulic system and its associated auxiliary hydraulic accumulator spring being controlled by adjustable valve means. As shown, the wheels 1 of a vehicle are suspended on front transverse arms and rear trailing arms 2, each suspension comprising an hydraulic suspension unit 7 which may be constructed as described in Specification 942,829, those on each side being interconnected by a conduit 10 having a branch connection 11 to an auxiliary accumulator spring A located under the front wing of the vehicle. A solenoid operated valve B, operable by the driver, regulates or discontinues the flow through the pipe 11. The accumulator-spring A may comprise a gas spring or may comprise a metal sleeve 14 bonded around a rubber body 12, a cup-shaped member 13 being bonded within the body 12 having a connection with the pipe 11. An end cap 15 closes the wider end of the sleeve 14 to atmosphere. _
