Abstract

1,003,914. Builder motion. DENCO A.G. May 31, 1962 [June 1,1961], No. 21014/62. Heading D1D. [Also in Divisions F2 and H2] In spinning-apparatus, to provide the transverse, an oscillatory cam 19, Fig. 3 is rotated by a driving shaft 17 to reciprocate a,worm 44 and so oscillate a wheel 27 which is fastened to a cam 28, Fig. 1 which controls the position of the ring rail; to provide the gain the cam 28 is indexed forwardly through the wheel 27 by gradually rotating the worm. The cam 28 has a follower 31 arranged to reciprocate a slide 32 to rock an output shaft 38 by a cable 34 trained over an idler 35 and fastened to a pulley 36 fast on the shaft. Cam 28 is fixed to worm-wheel 27 loose in shaft 17 and meshing with worm 44, Fig. 3 slidable on a shaft 43. The worm is fastened to a yoke 39 slidable on a shaft 41 and carrying a follower 40 urged by a spring 42 against three-point cam 19 fast with a sprocket 18 secured to shaft 17. As the latter is drawn by gearing 15,16 from an input shaft 13, it rotates the cam to oscillate the yoke and cause the worm to act as a rack to rock the wheel 27 to provide the traverse. The thread of the worm is intersected by longitudinal grooves meshing with a gear 47 on a shaft 48 which is periodically indexed forward to provide the gain. To this end, it is connected to a sprocket 57, Fig. 9, connected by a chain to a sprocket 55 loose on a shaft 52 continuously driven from a sprocket 18 on shaft 17. Splined to shaft 52 is an adjustable composite face-cam 58, 63 urged by a spring 59 so that a block 61 tends to make driving-contact with the loose sprocket 55. For part of its rotation, however, the block is held out of contact by a fixed follower 62 riding on the face of the cam. A scale facilitates a selected relative setting of the component parts of the cam. The worm-wheel 27 is additionally indexed through the shaft 48 to build initial and tip bunches; to this end, the shaft 48 is connected through a clutch to an auxiliary motor controlled by micro-switches 84, 86 actuated by legs adjustably set on the outside of a timing drum 73, Fig. 1. This is mounted to rotate on a fixed plate 74 to follow the changes in position of the worm-wheel 27 which has an arm 30 engaging a lug 77 on the inside of the drum. In operation, with the ring-rail released from doffing position, and the cam 28 engaging the follower 31 at position a in Fig. 5, the main framemolar is started, and the cam operates in the sector a-b to build a feeler bunch. This continues until the timing-drum has been rotated by arm 30 to a position where the first timing lug engages the micro-switches to actuate the clutch and auxiliary motor which rotates the cam to engage the follower at point b; thereafter the cam operates in the sector b-c for the main build at c, the microswitches are operated to move the cam on to d between which and point c a tip-bunch is built, on completion of which the cam is moved on to starting position. Between points e and a the cam may be shaped to lower the ring-rail to doffing point and back, corresponding lugs being provided on the drum. The apparatus may be in a housing fitted with screws 12 whereby it may be aligned with the input-shaft 13 while sprocket 18 may actuate a pump 22 for raising lubricant to a drip-tray 24. The auxiliary motor may be replaced by a drive taken off the main-motor or a pneumatic device.
