Abstract
884,568. Variable-speed ratchet gear; cam mechanism. VEREINIGTE BACKEREIMASCHINENWERKE VEB. March 31, 1958, No. 10209/58. Classes 80 (1) and 80 (2) and 80 (3). In variable-speed ratchet gearing, particularly for a dough-dividing or kneading machine, a roller ratchet 20 is oscillated by a rack 17 reciprocated by a cam disc 16 whose eccentricity is determined by the engagement of a toothed segment 25 on the rotating cam disc with a spiral groove in the face of a rotating disc 26. A relative angular movement between the rotating discs 16, 26 to vary the eccentricity is effected by rotating the normally stationary reaction sun 6 of a bevel epicyclic gear through which the disc 26 is driven. The disc 26 is fixed to a bevel sun gear 5, while the disc 16 has guide strips engaging parallel grooves in the gear 15 so that it rotates therewith. The input shaft 1, on which the gears 5, 15 are loosely mounted has fixed thereto a planet carrier 2 driving the sun 5 at twice input speed and a gear 11 driving the gear 15 through a countershaft 13, also at twice input speed. The reaction sun 6 is normally held stationary by a worm drive 7 through which the eccentricity adjustment is effected. The rack 17 engages a pinion 18 on a shaft 19 which is loaded by a spring or by an adjustable weight 23 to hold the rack in engagement with the cam disc 16. The oscillating shaft 19 drives the ratchet coupling 20 to produce intermittent rotation of an output shaft 21.
