Abstract
1,003,812. Track brakes. W. G. ALLEN & SONS (TIPTON) Ltd. Jan. 2, 1964 [Nov. 24, 1962], No. 44513/62. Headings F2E and F2F. [Also in Division B7] In a track braking system for a rail vehicle 10 the vehicle is adapted to be braked by means of brake shoes 16 located on the body 11 of the rail vehicle, the shoes 16 normally being raised off the track rails by means of a series of jacks 15 which lift the body 11 when fluid from a manually operated pump 23 is actuated to supply fluid via a speed sensitive valve unit 25 through a spool valve 26 in a changeover valve 19 to the jacks 15. At the occurrence of excess speed or some other emergency, actuation of the speed sensitive valves 25 or a manually operable valve 24 relieves the pressure in the separate circuits through suitable outlets 27 to atmosphere and allow the jacks 15 to retract and the railway vehicle 10 to be braked.
