Abstract

1,002,989. Ignition systems. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. Dec. 19, 1961 [Dec. 22, 1960], No. 45438/61. Heading F1B. An ignition system for an internal-combustion engine comprises a high tension ignition coil whose primary winding 20 is supplied from a current source through at least two transistors 12, 13 in series connection by their emittercollector paths each of which transistors is connected by its base to a common control device 38 determining the ignition timing there being located in the connecting lead between the base of the transistor, whose emitter is connected to the collector of the other transistor, and the control device, a rectifier 40 passing current in the direction which coincides with the direction of flow of the emitter base current of this transistor. The emitter collector paths of the transistors are shunted by load equalising resistors 46, 47. The transistors are mounted in a housing 15 which is fixed by a clip on the ignition coil housing. The contact breaker may be replaced by a four pole A.C. generator which supplies blocking pulses to the transistors.
