Abstract

A cleaning composition comprises 4-20 parts of anhydrous aluminium silicate particles prepared by calcining kaolimtic particles according to the method set out in Specification 810,487, 100% of the anhydrous particles being less than 10 microns, 95% less than 2 microns and 75% less than 1 micron, 0.1-10 parts of a thickener and the remainder up to 100 parts being a liquid. The liquid may be water or a solvent-cleaner, e.g. kerosene or mineral spirits. The thickener may be magnesium montmorillonite, metal oleates, dimethyldioctadecyl salts of montmorillonite, natural gums, alkanolamides, colloidal silica and amphoteric metal naphthenates. Up to 15 parts of a polishing agent may be present, e.g. paraffin, microcrystalline waxes, oxidized microcrystalline waxes, polyolefins and oxidized polyolefins, carnauba, wax, beeswax, hydrogenated castor oil, ouricury, petrolatum and mixtures thereof.
