Abstract

A mechanism for folding and delivering zigzag folded stationery comprises a tape conveyer 3 to support successive superposed and oppositely folded portions of a web W, perforated transversely across the fold lines by a crossperforator 1. The mechanism further includes spaced, oscillatable levers 4 mounted fast upon a shaft 5. The web W extends between said levers 4 and is delivered downwardly by endless driven bands 6 and 7 to form folds F<SP>1</SP> and F<SP>2</SP> therein. An adjustable back stop 8 is provided at the limit of backward stroke of the levers 4 against which the folds F<SP>1</SP> are laid and the successive folds are patted and set by rotary patters 9 mounted fast on a rotatable shaft 15. Rotary helical devices 10, driven in unison are provided at the limit of forward strokes of the levers 4 to lower the successively folded portions of the web on to the conveyer 3. Further rotary devices 9<SP>1</SP> for patting and setting of the folds F<SP>2</SP> are provided. The folded stationery web W is delivered by the conveyer 3 on to travelling band conveyer 2, the angularly set helical devices 10 being tilted upwardly out of the path of the stationery. The back stop 8 and its associated patter device 9 are mounted upon a slide 13 which is adjustable in a forward and backward direction along a slideway 14, to deal with stationery of various lengths.
