Abstract

1,001,940. Laminates and laminating. DUFAYLITE DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. March 21, 1962 [March 22, 1961], No. 44235/64. Heading B5N. Honeycomb material, e.g. of paper or chipboard, is made by passing a web 1 of the material between slitting rollers 3 which produce aligned slits 4, alternating with unslitted portions 5, at regular intervals in the web, passing the web between roller assemblies 7, 8 which apply spaced bands of adhesive which are staggered on opposite faces of the web, and allowing the web to descend vertically such that it folds naturally about the slitted lines, the distance of fall being chosen to produce a regular oscillation of the falling web, which may be assisted by intermittent blasts from air nozzles 15. The folds of the web are accumulated on carriages 9 which can rapidly be removed and replaced, as each pile is completed, by pneumatic means 14.
