Abstract

Aerosol finishing compositions for synthetic yarns and articles made therefrom comprise polyvinyl acetate, polyethyl acrylate, turpentine and/or linseed oil, and a butadiene/stryrene copolymer dissolved in a mixture of acetone, ethyl acetate, xylene and methylene chloride, together with a halogenated hydrocarbon propellant. The compositions may also comprise plasticizers, e.g. phthalic acid esters; scents, e.g. amyl cinnamaldehyde; diers, e.g. lead, cobalt and manganese naphthenates, and casein-formaldehyde-urea condensation products.ALSO:Finishing agents for stockings, nets, screens and the like made of synthetic yarns comprise polyvinyl acetate, polyethyl acrylate, turpentine and/or linseed oil and a butadiene/styrene copolymer dissolved in a mixture of acetone, ethylene acetate, xylene and methylene chloride. The compositions may also comprise plasticizers, e.g. phthalic acid esters; scents, e.g. amyl cinnamaldehyde; driers, e.g. lead, cobalt and manganese naphthenates; casein-formaldehydeurea condensation products; and halogenated hydrocarbon propellants.ALSO:Yarns of non-porous synthetic materials such as nylon, and articles made therefrom, may be treated with finishing agents comprising polyvinyl acetate, polyethyl acrylate, turpentine and/or linseed oil and a butadiene/styrene copolymer dissolved in a mixture of acetone, ethyl acetate, xylene and methylene chloride. The compositions may also comprise plasticisers, e.g. phthalic acid esters; scents, e.g. amyl cinnamaldehyde; driers, e.g. lead, cobalt and manganese naphthenates; casein-formaldehyde-urea condensation products; and halogenated hydrocarbon propellants. The compositions may be used to increase the laddering resistance of stockings.
