Abstract

1378907 Dry-cleaning compositions SOC RHONE-PROGIL 10 Jan 1972 [18 Jan 1971] 1063/72 Heading C3P [Also in Divisions C5 and D1] An organic solvent bath for dry-cleaning textile fabrics and like articles comprises one or more organic solvents, water in an amount of up to 100 g. per litre of solvent, an intensifier (i.e. a surface-active agent soluble in the organic solvent), and, as an anti-redeposition agent, one or more polymers of acrylic or methacrylic acid or copolymers of a said acid with an acrylic or methacrylic ester, the polymers or copolymers being soluble in, or capable of absorbing 10 times or more their own weight of, water. Solvents specified are trichloroethylene, perehloroethylene, benzene, toluene, xylene, hexane, heptane, octane, petroleum distillate, petroleum ether and mixtures thereof. Examples of intensifiers are amine alkylarylsulphonates, ethoxylated derivatives of amines or aliphatic alcohols, and alkyl-polyethoxyphenols. The optional ester component of the anti-redeposition copolymer is suitably a C 1 -C 3 alkyl (meth)acrylate.
