Abstract

A paintable release fluid consists essentially of a solvent soluble copolymer of (a) siloxane units of the formula <FORM:1118838/C3/1> and (b) siloxane units of the formula <FORM:1118838/C3/2> wherein R is an alkyl radical of at least 7 C atoms, and R1 is a 2-phenylpropyl or 2-phenylethyl radical. Preferably, the polymer comprises 60 to 90 mol. per cent of units (a) and 10 to 40 mol. per cent of units (b) and R contains 10 to 14 C atoms. The copolymers can be made by the known reaction of the appropriate a -olefins with methylhydrogen siloxanes. The polymers, to which thermal stabilizers may be added, are advantageously applied as solutions in organic solvents. Examples describe the above preparation of the copolymers.
