Abstract

1381185 Pressure sensitive adhesives SALVE SA 5 April 1972 [5 April 1971] 15641/72 Heading C3P A pressure sensitive adhesive comprises a copolymer prepared by the copolymerization of a mixture consisting of (a) 99-88% by wt. of (i) at least one alkyl acrylate where the alkyl group contains 2-10 carbon atoms or of (ii) a mixture of 85-60% by wt. of at least one ester of acrylic acid and 15-40% vinyl acetate or of (iii) a mixture of 83-54% of at least one ester of acrylic acid, 15-40% vinyl acetate and 2-6% 1-vinyl-pyrrolidone-2, and (b) 1-12% 2- hydroxyethyl or 2-hydroxypropyl acrylate or methacrylate or mixtures thereof, and a solvent comprising an ester and an aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon or a mixture thereof. Preferably the ester in component (a) (i), (ii) or (iii) is 2- ethylhexyl acrylate and the solvent comprises ethyl acetate and either a petroleum fraction having a boiling point range of 64‹ to 70‹ C. or toluene.
