Abstract

A tetrapolymer for use in a low adhesion backsize coating comprises octadecyl acrylate, acrylic acid, acrylonitrile and methyl acrylate in the approximate proportions by weight of 5 : 1 : 3 : 1. The tetrapolymer may be made from a monomeric mixture in per cent by weight of 51% octadecyl acrylate, 9% acrylic acid, 29% acrylonitrile, and 11% methyl acrylate. The polymerization may take place in the presence of ethyl acetate and benzoyl peroxide, further quantities of which are added during the course of the reaction.
