Abstract

1,000,904. Flail-mowers. D. A. YOUNG. Dec. 16, 1963 [Sept. 15, 1962], No. 35245/62. Heading AlF. In a flail-type mower having trailing ground-wheels 5 behind the rotor 3, 4 the ground-wheels are mounted on stub-axles 6 carried by inverted U-brackets 7 so that no obstructions exist across the width of swath of the cutters to prevent even cutting and laying of the crop. The U- brackets are secured to an elevated crossbeam forming part of the harvester chassis 2. Deflectors (not shown) may be positioned in front of each ground-wheel to deflect grass inwardly away from the wheels.
