1,000,727. Measuring liquid level and rate of flow electrically. SIEMENS-CHUCKERTWERKE A.G. July 27,1962 [July 29,1961], No. 29055/62. Heading G1N. A device for generating an electrical signal in response to a predetermined condition in a fluidcontaining vessel comprises a buoyant member 7 carrying a permanent magnet 15 movable relative to a Hall plate 16 which generates an output voltage when the magnet moves adjacent thereto. Chamber 1 is fitted in a pipe between an oil-filled transformer housing and an oil-expansion chamber. If the oil-level falls Hall plate 13 generates an output. A pivoted flap 10 has an abutment portion 11 arranged to depress arm 8 when oil flows from left to right at an excessive rate, also producing an output signal. Buoyant member 4 is similarly arranged adjacent Hall plate 13, which gives an output when excessive gas is generated in the apparatus.
