Abstract

1,000,618. Suction dredgers. PACIFIC COAST ENGINEERING CO. June 28, 1963 [July 23, 1962], No. 25776/63. Heading E1F. In a barge-mounted suction dredger lift of submerged material through a vertically adjustable, ladder-mounted suction pipe 41 is caused by a barge-mounted centrifugal pump at the upper end of the pipe and a jet lift pump 47 at the lower end of the pipe, the jet pump comprising a pressure housing 113 fixed in the ladder and jet means 49 rotatably supported in and surrounded by housing and rigidly coupled in the suction pipe for rotation therewith as the suction pipe is rotated to render effective the cutter means 61 secured to the lower end thereof.
