Abstract
The machine has a watertight pressure vessel in which pressure can be varied, with a frame underneath equipped with cutting rotors (6), and components for placing on the pipeline (5) and guiding the machine along it. clamps (9) engage with the pipeline and are coupled to the frame by a push-and-pull mechanism (10), and a hydraulic power unit is supplied from the surface of the water. A mud pump can be provided, to discharge spoil loosened by the rotors (6) which can be arranged symmetrically under the frame, means being included for tilting the rotor axes in relation to the frame. The clamps can be designed to give a firm grip onto the pipeline.
