Abstract

1430182 Dredging T ARAOKA 13 March 1973 12134/73 Heading E1F Apparatus for excavating submerged soft ground, e.g. sand, comprises a fixed cover 1, a water-tight motor 2 mounted above the cover and having a drive shaft 3 extending through the centre of the cover, scoops or blades 5 secured to the end of the drive shaft, and a suction pipe 10 having its lower end connected to an inlet opening 6 formed in the cover 1. In the embodiment shown, scoops 4 are attached to the drive shaft 3 in a helical manner. Alternative forms of cover, scoops, blades, suction pipe &c are disclosed.
