Abstract

1,000,601. Windscreen wipers. W. E. O'SHEI. Dec. 20, 1961 [Dec. 22, 1960], No. 44076/60. Heading A4F. The end of a windscreen wiper arm 11 is attached to a yoke 9 by a channel-shaped connector 20 containing a leaf spring 29, the ends 22, 30 of the parts 20, 29 being passed through a transverse slot 23 in the yoke 9 and retained e.g. by a leaf spring 27 passing through apertures in the ends 22, 30. The leaf spring 29 is held in the connector 20 by fingers 33 and has pressed out shoulders 34 adapted to engage notches in the sides of the wiper arm 11. The latter may be released by manually depressing the end 36 of the spring 29. Alternatively one only of the ends 22, 30 is retained by the spring 27. In a further construction the spring 27 is omitted, the ends 22, 30 being bent over to retain them in the slot 23.
