Abstract

A heat exchanger having a core section (4) that is provided with tubes (2), a header tank (5) that communicates with the tubes (2), and an insert (7) that is placed substantially in parallel to the longitudinal direction of the tubes (2) so as to be in contact with the core section (4) at its end, to which heat from the core section (4) is transmitted, and both ends of which are supported by the header tank (5). Stress absorbing sections (74,76,77) for absorbing stress occurring in the longitudinal direction of the insert (7) are formed at the insert (7) such that they are arranged from the upstream side to downstream side of air flow in the insert (7). The end on the upstreammost side of the air flow and the end of the downstreammost side of the air flow at the stress absorbing sections (74,76,77) are arranged so that they are not superposed over each other in the direction of the air flow.
