Le piston comprend une came (3) en liaison mécanique avec les deux dispositifs mobiles actionnant le pivotement de la came autour d’un axe (20) pour fermer ou ouvrir les passages de fuite sous l’effet de la pression d’un fluide d'amortisseur.
