Description
The subject of the invention is an object wedging device comprising a stack of honeycomb cardboard panels.
Transporting objects requires the use of wedging devices to prevent damage to the transported object. Currently, wedging devices are made of polystyrene which has the advantage of being light, easy to mold and not very abrasive. As environmental concerns become more and more important, manufacturers are looking to replace this material with another more ecological material. Certain molded cellulose wedging devices have thus been developed. This material, which is essentially made from recycled paper and water, nevertheless has the disadvantage of being heavy, difficult to mold into complex shapes, abrasive and generates dust. In addition, it does not absorb shocks well and the existing production capacity is insufficient to cover market needs. It is also possible to use crumpled paper, but this does not always provide good wedging for the most fragile objects.
Wedging devices made of honeycomb cardboard are also known. The latter is formed of two parallel sheets of paper between which stand a plurality of sheets of paper substantially perpendicular to the two parallel sheets of paper. The honeycomb cardboard, although relatively bulky, has good impact resistance in a direction perpendicular to the two parallel sheets but much lower impact resistance in a parallel direction. A cellular cardboard plate can be stamped (crushed) perpendicular to the planes of the parallel sheets of paper in order to allow an object to be accommodated. This stamping makes the alveolar cardboard elastic favoring the absorption of a shock, but reduces the overall resistance of the alveolar cardboard. It is also necessary to protect the objects to be wedged against abrasion, in particular when it is in contact with the edges of a hollowed out or stamped part of a cellular cardboard plate.
Finally, corrugated cardboard can also be used, but its impact resistance and shock absorption capacity are relatively limited. In addition, its edges are abrasive, requiring additional protection of the object to be wedged.
The invention aims to solve all or part of the aforementioned drawbacks.
To this end, a first object of the invention relates to a device for wedging an object comprising a stack of at least three assembled honeycomb cardboard panels, each panel comprising two parallel outer sheets of paper between which extend a plurality of sheets of paper erected perpendicularly or substantially perpendicular to the two outer sheets, the panels being assembled superimposed on the side of their outer sheets, and in which at least one honeycomb cardboard panel defines at least one housing for receiving an object opening onto at least one of its outer leaves.
This arrangement makes it possible to produce a strong wedging device for receiving an object.
Advantageously, for better protection, the wedging device may comprise a stack of at least four stacked and assembled honeycomb cardboard panels, at least one of which defines at least one housing opening onto at least one of its outer sheets.
Advantageously, each housing can be chosen from among a housing made by stamping and a housing made by cutting.
Advantageously, in order to accommodate large objects, at least one panel may have at least one housing communicating with a housing of an adjacent panel.
Advantageously, the panels of the stack can be of the same shapes and dimensions, at least in a plane parallel to their outer sheets.
In one embodiment, two adjacent panels of the stack can be connected to each other by one edge of their outer sheets facing each other, these connections between the panels being located alternately on opposite sides of the stack. the stack or alternatively on adjacent sides of the stack. In other words, the panels of the stack can either be connected to each other alternately on either side of the stack, or connected to each other alternately on adjacent sides of the stack. Such an arrangement makes it easier to mount the wedging device with good positioning of the panels.
In a variant that is particularly simple to implement, these connections between the panels can be made by folding lines connecting external sheets facing the stack.
The invention also relates to a honeycomb cardboard blank for producing a wedging device according to the invention, characterized in that it is formed from a single honeycomb cardboard blank having two parallel outer sheets of paper between which extend a plurality of sheets of paper erected perpendicularly or substantially perpendicular to the two external sheets, the blank having on each external sheet cutting and folding lines defining panels, each folding line being located opposite a cutting line of the other outer sheet of the blank in a direction perpendicular to the outer sheets of the blank, and the cutting and folding lines being arranged so that, after shaping, the panels are superimposed, two adjacent panels being connected to one to the other by a single fold line.
It is thus possible to produce the wedging device according to the invention very simply and to mount it quickly without risk of error, the panels being connected to each other.
Alternatively, the cut and fold lines may be parallel and alternate in a direction perpendicular to the lines. In this case, each cutting line of an outer sheet of the blank is located opposite a fold line of the other outer sheet of the blank in a direction perpendicular to the outer sheets of the blank.
In another variant, the cutting and folding lines can be perpendicular, and optionally the cutting lines can be parallel two by two and in the extension of one another and the folding lines can be parallel two by two and in continuation of each other. In this case, each fold line of an outer sheet of the blank is located opposite a cutting line of the other outer sheet of the blank in a direction perpendicular to the outer sheets of the blank and the cutting lines of a outer sheet of the blank are located opposite the cutting lines of the other outer sheet of the blank in this same perpendicular direction.
The invention thus also relates to a process for shaping the honeycomb cardboard blank according to the invention, in which the blank is folded until the outer sheets of adjacent panels connected by a folding line are superimposed.
Advantageously, the superposed adjacent panels can be assembled by at least one technique chosen from gluing, interlocking, stapling.
The invention is now described with reference to the accompanying, non-limiting drawings, in which:
In the description of the figures, the same elements are designated by the same references, possibly followed by a prime (‘).
By substantially parallel or perpendicular, is meant a direction/plane deviating by at most ±20°, or even by at most 10° or by at most 5° from a direction/plane parallel or perpendicular .
Each honeycomb cardboard panel 10, 20, 30 comprises two parallel outer sheets of paper 11, 12 respectively; 21, 22; 31, 32 between which extend a plurality of sheets of paper, respectively 13, 23, 33 standing perpendicular or substantially perpendicular to the two outer sheets 11, 12; 21, 22; 31, 32.
The panels 10, 20, 30 are assembled superposed on the side of their outer sheets. In other words, two adjacent panels of the stack have facing outer sheets.
In the example, the panels 10, 20, 30 are of the same shapes and dimensions so that the stack has substantially continuous faces. This can facilitate the insertion of the wedging device inside a package. Note however that the panels may have identical shapes and dimensions parallel to their outer sheets but a different dimension perpendicular to their outer sheets. In other words, panels of different heights (measured perpendicular to the outer sheets) can be used.
Furthermore, according to the invention, at least one honeycomb cardboard panel defines at least one housing for receiving an object opening onto at least one of its outer sheets.
In the example, the central panel 20 has a single housing 24, here crossing, in other words leading to its two outer sheets. Thus, an object introduced inside the housing is protected by the outer panels 10 and 30 perpendicular to the outer sheets thereof and by the central panel 20 parallel to the outer sheets. This housing 24 is here of parallelepipedal shape.
The invention is of course not limited by the shape and the number of housings which can be chosen according to the number of objects to be wedged and the dimensions of the object(s) to be wedged.
It is also possible to provide housings on the panels 10 and 30, possibly extending over part of the height of these panels (measured perpendicular to their outer sheets), or entirely crossing. Finally, the housings of adjacent panels can communicate to accommodate an object having a dimension greater than the height of a single panel.
In general, a housing may extend over the entire height of the upright sheets 13, 23, 33, in particular when the housing is made by cutting, or over part of the height of the upright sheets 13, 23, 33, in particular when the housing is made by stamping (crushing).
A honeycomb cardboard panel usually has a thickness (or height), measured perpendicular to its outer sheets, of the order of 1 to 10 cm. The direction in which the strength of a honeycomb panel is highest is the direction perpendicular to its outer sheets.
It will be noted that a cutting line 104 of an outer sheet 101 of the blank is located opposite a fold line 105 of the other outer sheet 102 of the blank in a direction perpendicular to the outer sheets of the blank.
In this example, the blank 100 has two housings 24, 34 arranged on adjacent panels 20, 30 and arranged so as to communicate when these panels are superimposed. In particular, when the panels 20 and 30 are superimposed, the housings 24, 34 thus form a single housing whose walls are continuous.
It will be noted that each fold line 105' of an outer sheet 101' of the blank is located opposite a cutting line 104' of the other outer sheet 102' of the blank in a direction perpendicular to the outer sheets of the blank.
In this example, the blank 100 has two housings 24', 34' arranged on adjacent panels 20', 30' and arranged so as to communicate when these panels are superimposed. In particular, when the panels 20' and 30' are superimposed, the housings 24', 34' thus form a single housing whose walls are continuous after shaping the blank.
It is thus understood that with a judicious positioning of the cutting and folding lines, it is possible to produce a stack of panels in which two superimposed adjacent panels are connected by a single folding line. Stacks comprising three, four or more panels can thus be easily produced.
Whatever the embodiment of the blank, the panels, after shaping the blank or during the latter, are assembled by gluing, stapling, interlocking or any other appropriate technique.
The invention has been described with reference to a wedging device comprising three or four stacked panels. However, the invention is not limited to a number of panels, the latter being chosen according to the thickness of the panels and the dimensions of the objects to be wedged.
