L'invention concerne un procédé de détection du blocage d'une girouette (12) d'un aéronef, la girouette (12) comprenant un support (20), une palette (22) montée mobile en rotation par rapport au support (20) suivant un axe (A), un moteur (28) propre à exercer un couple de rotation sur la palette (22) suivant l'axe (A), le moteur (28) étant connecté à une unité de traitement (18) ; le procédé comprenant au moins les étapes suivantes : - application d'un couple prédéterminé de détection de blocage sur la palette (22) par le moteur (28) ; - mesure d'au moins une information représentative d'une résistance de la palette (22) au couple prédéterminé de détection ; - génération, par l'unité de traitement (18), d'un signal d'information de blocage, si une condition prédéterminée basée sur l'information représentative est vérifiée.
