Abstract
L'invention concerne une fibre de carbone préparée à partir de cellulose, présentant de bonnes propriétés mécaniques en traction, notamment un module de Young supérieur ou égal à 85 GPa et une contrainte à la rupture supérieure ou égale à 1500 MPa, ainsi qu'une densité hydrostatique comprise entre 1,3 et 1,65 g/m3. Un procédé de préparation d'une telle fibre comprend un traitement thermique de cette fibre à une température modérée ne dépassant pas 1500 °C, en même temps qu'un étirement important de ladite fibre.
