Abstract

Ce dispositif (50) est portable pour pourvoir être emporté à bord d'un véhicule de maintenance (22) par un opérateur au moment où celui-ci monte à bord du véhicule de maintenance. Il comporte un module de radiocommunication pour établir une liaison avec une station de base sélectionnée parmi une pluralité de stations de base d'une infrastructure de communication (30) d'un système de supervision (100) en fonction de la position du véhicule de maintenant, le module de radiocommunication collectant un identifiant de la station de base avec laquelle il a établi une liaison ; et une base de données comportant une description du réseau ferroviaire, associant une information de position à chaque identifiant des stations de base de l'infrastructure de communication. Le dispositif détermine alors une position instantanée du véhicule de maintenance à partir de l'information de position associée à l'identifiant collecté par le module de radiocommunication à l'instant courant.
