Abstract

Device for fixing a vertical fence element to a masonry part, comprising a post and a base. The base comprises an upper plate provided with means of its connection to the pole and a lower plate provided with holes for passing fasteners from the base to the masonry portion. Description

(57) Device for fixing a vertical fence element to a masonry part, comprising a post and a base. The base includes an upper plate provided with means for its connection to the post and a lower plate provided with holes for passage of elements for fixing the base to the masonry part. The base has a lateral surface extending between the two plates substantially in the extension of a lateral surface of the post the lateral surface of the base except that it has recesses allowing access to the fastening elements engaged in the through holes. Covers are detachably fixed in the recesses to extend in the extension of the lateral surface of the post.

The present invention relates to the field of fences and gates.

A gate generally comprises one or more leaves mounted on support posts fixed to a masonry part such as a concrete footing. In the same way, a fence · generally comprises posts fixed · on a masonry part such as a concrete footing, a low wall or the like.

It is known to seal the posts directly in the masonry parts but this method of · fixing proves impractical on site because it requires · to provide the precise implantation of the posts as soon as the masonry part is manufactured. In addition, the irreversibility of this method of attachment prevents any · implantation error.

To remedy these drawbacks, it has been envisaged to fix the posts - on bases themselves fixed to the masonry parts by fastening elements engaged in the masonry parts. The fasteners are usually screws screwed into dowels fixed in the masonry part or studs which are chemically sealed in the masonry part and which receive nuts pressing the base against the masonry part. The upper parts of the fastening elements (screw heads, upper ends of the studs and nuts engaged thereon) are visible and subject to inclement weather. This results in a deterioration of the aesthetics of: the assembly and a risk of oxidation of the fastening elements: while these are highly stressed.

An object of the invention is: to provide an improved fixing means for posts of fence or gate.

& for this purpose, provision is made, according to the invention, for a device for fixing a vertical fence element to a masonry part, comprising a post and a base. The base comprises an upper plate provided with means for its connection to the post and a lower plate provided with passage holes for fixing elements of the base to the masonry part. The invention is here described in application to the fixing of a fence element such as a fixed barrier or movable gate leaf so that said fence element extends vertically.

Referring to Figures 1 to 3, the invention thus relates to a device for fixing a vertical fence element to a masonry part. Depending on the dimensions of the fence element, there may be one or more fixing devices per fence element.

Each device comprises a post, generally designated at 10, and a base- generally designated at 50.

The post 10 here comprises a profile 11, here made of aluminum, having a cross section · substantially square with a lateral surface 12 with four faces 13 connected in pairs by a rounded 14. One of the faces 13 is provided with a longitudinal recess 21 which forms a T-groove and which is closed by a removable tongue 22. Another of the faces 13 is provided with a longitudinal recess 23 which also forms a T-groove and which is also closed by a removable tongue · 24. The base 50 comprises an upper plate 51, a lower plate 52 parallel to the upper plate 51, a lateral surface · 62 extending between _: the two sensitive plates 51, 52 are in line with the lateral surface 12: of the post 10. The plates 51, 52 have a square shape corresponding to the cross section of the post

10. The lateral surface 62 of the base 50 thus has four faces 63 aligned with the faces 13. The faces 63 are connected two by two in by a rounded 64 in which a recess 65 has been formed. Each recess 65 is here delimited · By two flat walls which extend perpendicularly to each other and which are connected to each other by a connection fillet. The lateral surface 62 of the base 50 thus extends between the : two plates 51, 52 substantially in the: 'extension of the lateral surface 1: 2 of the post 10 except as regards the recesses 65. The base 50 includes covers 66 which have a rounded external surface and which are fixed removably in the recesses 65 to extend each in · the extension of one of the rounded 14 of the post 10. Each of the covers 66 is here formed by a curved plate · whose generatrices are vertical when the cover 66 is fixed . The hidden 66 are provided with elastically deformable hooking elements to be clipped into the recesses 65 of the lateral surface 62 of the base 50.

The upper plate 51 is provided with holes 53 for passage of fixing elements 54: from the base 50 to the post 10 and the lower plate 52 is provided with holes 55 for passage of elements 56 for fixing the base to the stud of concrete F. There are four holes 53 here and are each made to open into one of the: recesses 65. There are also three holes 55: four and are made to lead each into one of the recesses 65.

The elements 54 are screws intended to be screwed through the plate · 53 in ·· housings · 25 each formed of an internal portion of the profile 11 having a G-shaped cross section whose opening is directed · worm s 1 central axis of the bound teacher 11.

The elements 5-6 are here threaded rods intended to have their lower end portions chemically sealed in the concrete block P and their · upper end portions provided · with a nut 57.

The upper plate 51 is surmounted by a pin 58 for centering the post '10 on the base 50 and the post 10 has a lower end defining a housing · for receiving the centering pin 58. The centering pin 58 has a · substantially cruciform cross section whose arms have edges extending in the immediate vicinity of one opening of the housings 25. Preferably, these edges are widened to occupy the entire width of said opening.

The centering pin 58 makes it possible to reinforce the base of the post 10.

Base 50 is a unique piece of cast iron foundry. The base 50 has · transverse dimensions and a cross section substantially identical to those of the water pot 10.

The mounting of the device will now be described.

It begins with the fixing of the post 10 to the base 50 by screwing the screws 54 into the housings 25 passing through the holes 53. Preferably, the screwdriver) used passes through the holes 55 'for more convenience in the operation Screwing, hence the advantage that each hole 53 is coaxial with one of the holes 55. The screws 54 form the means for fixing the post 10 to the base 50.

In parallel, the threaded rods 56 are sealed in the concrete pad P.

The base 50 on which the post 10 has been fixed is then engaged on the threaded rods 56 by introducing the upper end of the latter each in one of the holes 55. The nuts 57 then feel screwed onto the upper ends threaded rods 56. The threaded rods 56 close the means for fixing the base 50 to the concrete pad F.

It will be understood that the recesses 65 allow access to the upper end portion of the threaded rods 56 and to the nuts 57, and to the head of the screws 54.

The covers 66 are then clipped into the hooks 65.

It will be noted that the base 50 and the post 10 have identical sections · so that the base 50 appears visually to belong to the post 10.

Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiment described but encompasses any variant coming within the scope of the invention as defined by the claims.

In particular, the base may have a shape different from that described.

Claims (9)

1. Device for fixing a vertical fence element to a masonry part, comprising a post (10) and a base (50), characterized in that the base (50) 5 comprises an upper plate (51) provided with means for its connection to the post and a lower plate (52) provided with holes (53) for passage of elements (54) for fixing the base (50) to the masonry part , in that the base has a lateral surface (62) extending between the two 10 plates (51, 52) substantially in the extension of a lateral surface (12) of the post (10) except that it has recesses (65) allowing access to the fastening elements engaged in the through holes , and in that the base includes covers (66) fixed from 15 removably in the recesses (65) to extend in the extension of the lateral surface of the post. 2. Device according to claim 1, in which the upper plate (51) is surmounted by a pin (58) for centering the post (10) on the base (50) and the post (10) 20 has a lower end provided with a housing for receiving the centering pin (58). 3. Device according to claim 2, wherein the centering pin (58) has a substantially cruciform cross section. 25 4. Device according to any one of the preceding claims, in which the upper plate (51) is provided with holes (53) for passage of threaded rods (56) forming the means for fixing the post to the upper plate. 5. Device according to claim 4, wherein the passage holes (53) are provided in the upper plate (51) to open into the recesses (65) so that the latter allow access to the fastening elements (56, 57) from the base (50) to the masonry part and to a lower end portion of the threaded rods (54) forming the means for fixing the post to the upper plate. 5 6. Device according to any one of the preceding claims, in which the covers (66) are clipped into the recesses (65) of the lateral surface (62) of the base (50). 7. Device according to any one of the preceding claims, in which the base (50) is an aluminum foundry piece. 8. Device according to any one of the preceding claims, in which the post (10) has a constant cross section identical to the cross section 15 of the base (50). 9.
