Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a cosmetic composition, more specifically to a cosmetic aqueous pigment dispersion and to its method of preparation. The cosmetic compositions may be in the form of a dispersion comprising finely ground pigments. One of the difficulties encountered by cosmetic professionals and users is that a sedimentation of the pigment is usually observed: the pigment falls to the bottom of the container comprising the cosmetic composition, the other components remaining above. Therefore, the use of the cosmetic composition requires prior agitation before use to redisperse the pigment in the cosmetic composition. This sedimentation is all the more important as the content of pigment in the composition is important. In the field of cosmetics, it is customary to use a pigment dispersion as a base for preparing a cosmetic composition. If the pigment of this pigment dispersion sediments, it is necessary to stir the pigment dispersion before being introduced into the cosmetic composition. This effect is particularly pronounced when the pigment is a metal oxide, such as an iron oxide or titanium, because of their high density. Metallic oxides, in particular iron oxides (red, black and yellow) and titanium oxide, are the usual pigments in cosmetic compositions because of their low cost and the wide range of colors that they permit. 'get. Usually, anionic polysaccharides, in particular xanthan, are used as a suspending agent in cosmetic aqueous pigment dispersions in suspension form. However, anionic polysaccharides, in particular xanthan, are poorly compatible with pigments comprising a metal oxide. Indeed, the mixture of these polysaccharides and these pigments leads to the precipitation of the polysaccharide and the formation of lumps, incompatible with a cosmetic use.
In addition, the use of a suspension in the cosmetic field requires that the suspension has specific characteristics. In particular, cosmetic compositions consisting of natural products are particularly sought after. In particular, it is sought to avoid the presence of preservatives, which are of unnatural origin. One of the difficulties of these aqueous pigment dispersions consisting of natural products is their preservation over time.
; c El-;.1-c-11 , .- D C 1,s a D c d :ccl....-.- la _ :el: Li ...i.:01:. ben7.-. .,17.-,e: ""n-c.):1".:yr.".-,:u.o:.te.,:...i,.::1.1in 1 31:, fpcic -ci :-.- -1...1.7.nezr.I.-:1_,i:-..c..-7 I 20-5,-...- i 1,,I ben:,..-).1:,.:-. .1-. The object of the present invention is to provide an aqueous pigmentary cosmetic dispersion comprising essentially natural products, and which can be preserved even in the absence of preservatives, while maintaining the possibility of having high proportions of pigments and a weak, preferably nonexistent, sedimentation of the pigment over time. For this purpose, according to a first object, the invention relates to an aqueous pigmentary cosmetic dispersion comprising: at least one pigment comprising a metal oxide, especially chosen from iron or titanium oxides and mixtures thereof, at least one suspending agent of the following type anionic polysaccharide, a dispersing agent selected from citric acid, gluconic acid, phytic acid, sodium hexametaphosphate, a salt thereof or a mixture thereof, water and glycerin, with a glycerin to water mass ratio greater than 1.1. It has indeed been found that the presence of glycerin in the aqueous pigment dispersion with a glycerin to water mass ratio greater than 1.1 makes it possible to be able to preserve the aqueous pigment dispersion, even in the absence of preservatives, and thus of have an aqueous pigmentary cosmetic dispersion comprising essentially, if not exclusively, natural products. The aqueous pigmentary cosmetic dispersion is generally free of preserving agents, in particular preservatives admitted into cosmetic products, in particular those listed in Annex V of the EC Regulation No. 1223/2009 of November 30, 2009 relating to cosmetic products (L 342 / 192 to L342 / 200) (published in the Official Journal of the European Union of 22 December 2009), that is to say one or more of the following table: ro -! - -: re .:, ...; c. 1-c-11, .- D C 1, s a D c d: ccl ....-.- the _: el: Li ... i.:01 :. ben7.-. ., 17 .-, e: "" nc.): 1 ".: Yr." .-,: uo: .te.,: ... i,. :: 1.1in 1 31:, fpcic -c: -.- -1 ... 1.7.nezr.I .-: 1_, i: - .. c ..- 7 I 20-5, -...- i 1,, I ben:, ..-) .1:.,: -. .1-. Generally, the aqueous pigment dispersion can be stored at room temperature (25 ° C.) for more than two months, in particular more than 6 months, preferably more than 1 year, in particular more than 2 years, even in the absence of preservatives. .
The water activity of a product is defined as the ratio of the vapor pressure of a product to the vapor pressure of pure water at the same temperature. This accounts for the free water content of a product. Without wishing to be bound to a particular theory, it seems that the presence of glycerine with a glycerol to water mass ratio higher than 1.1 makes it possible to reduce the activity of the water so that it is less than 0.75. The activity of water is one of the main parameters influencing the preservation of a cosmetic aqueous pigment dispersion. Indeed, microorganisms need "free" water (free for biochemical reactions) to develop. The higher the water activity (1 being the maximum), the greater the amount of free water, the more micro-organisms will develop. A water activity of less than 0.75 limits the development of microorganisms. Thus, the water activity of the aqueous pigment dispersions according to the invention is typically less than 0.75. Preferably, in the aqueous pigment dispersion according to the invention, the glycerol to water mass ratio is greater than 1.2, and is preferably 1.5. These mass ratios make it possible to further reduce the activity of the water, and thus to minimize the development of microorganisms and to improve the preservation properties of the aqueous pigmentary cosmetic dispersion. Preferably, the aqueous pigmentary cosmetic dispersion is free of other solvent than water and glycerin, especially alcohol such as ethanol.
The aqueous pigment dispersion may in particular consist of the aforementioned components (pigment / suspending agent / dispersing agent / water / glycerine). The aqueous pigment dispersion is typically in the form of a suspension. The aqueous pigmentary cosmetic dispersion comprises at least one pigment comprising a metal oxide, especially chosen from iron or titanium oxides and mixtures thereof. When the metal oxide is a titanium oxide, it is preferably in rutile or anatase form.
The pigment may comprise a metal oxide layer (for example, a pigment in particulate form where each particle comprises a metal oxide shell) or consist of a metal oxide. The pigment typically has a particle size greater than 100 nm.
The aqueous pigmentary cosmetic dispersion comprises as suspending agent at least one anionic polysaccharide. As used herein, an anionic polysaccharide comprises anionic groups, for example carboxylate, phosphate and / or sulphonate groups, preferably carboxylate and / or sulfonate groups. The anionic polysaccharides are advantageously of natural origin. Preferably, the anionic polysaccharide is chosen from alginates, carrageenates and xanthan, which comprise carboxylate and / or sulphonate groups. Xanthan is particularly preferred because it has excellent suspending power of metal oxides. The aqueous pigmentary cosmetic dispersion comprises as a dispersing agent citric acid, gluconic acid, phytic acid, sodium hexametaphosphate, a salt thereof or a mixture thereof.
Without wishing to be bound to any particular theory, as the surface of the metal oxide particles is positively charged, these dispersing agents comprising ionic and / or chelating groups are capable of forming an ionic layer around the pigment particles and allow the suspension metal oxide / anionic polysaccharide is stable (no precipitation of the polysaccharide and / or no sedimentation of the pigment). When the acids are in salt form, the nature of the counterion is not limited, provided that the salt obtained is soluble in the water / glycerin mixture. The most common counterions are potassium, magnesium, calcium or sodium. Citric acid, gluconic acid, phytic acid and sodium hexametaphosphate comprising several ionizable groups, they may be present in the aqueous pigment dispersion in neutral form (acid) or partially or totally ionized. Preferably, the dispersing agent is either citric acid and / or a salt thereof or phytic acid and / or a salt thereof. Citric acid and / or a salt thereof is (are) particularly preferred. A mixture of citric acid and mono- or tri-sodium citrate is particularly suitable.
An aqueous pigmentary cosmetic dispersion comprising: at least one pigment comprising a metal oxide, especially chosen from iron or titanium oxides and mixtures thereof, preferably an iron oxide, xanthan, citric acid and / or its salts, water and glycerine, with a glycerin to water mass ratio greater than 1.1, is particularly preferred. Generally, the aqueous pigment dispersion comprises from 0.1 to 0.7%, especially from 0.2 to 0.5% by weight of dispersing agent. Above 0.7%, the aqueous pigment dispersion generally has a high viscosity. Dispersions comprising from 0.1 to 0.7% of pigment have a viscosity particularly suitable for cosmetic use.
The aqueous pigmentary cosmetic dispersion may comprise high amounts of pigments, for example more than 40% by weight, especially more than 45% by weight, of pigment, without sedimentation thereof being observed. Even with these high levels of pigment, no sedimentation of the pigment is observed, and the cosmetic aqueous pigment dispersion remains ready for use without requiring prior mixing. Typically, the aqueous pigmentary cosmetic dispersion comprises: from 45 to 65% by weight of pigment, from 0.2 to 5% by weight of suspending agent, from 0.1 to 0.7% by weight of dispersing agent, from 10 to 30% by weight. % by weight of water, 20 to 40% by weight of glycerine. In particular, it can consist of these components.
In one embodiment, the aqueous pigmentary cosmetic dispersion comprises less than 20% by weight of water. The pH of the aqueous pigmentary cosmetic dispersion is generally greater than 5. The sedimentation of the cosmetic pigment aqueous dispersion pigment having such pH is indeed minimized. The pH of the aqueous pigmentary cosmetic dispersion is typically between 5 and 8, preferably between 5.5 and 7.8, and in particular of the order of 7, because the neutral pHs are suitable for cosmetic use. The pH of the aqueous pigment dispersion can be adapted by methods known to those skilled in the art, in particular by adjusting the ratio between the dispersing agent in acid form (for example citric acid) or basic salt (for example citrate). The components of the aqueous cosmetic pigment dispersion are generally commercially available.
According to a second subject, the invention relates to a cosmetic composition comprising the aqueous cosmetic pigment dispersion defined above. The cosmetic composition may especially be a foundation, a mascara, an eyeliner, a blush, an eyeshadow, a lipstick, a nail polish, in particular aqueous, a mascara for hair, a hair gel, a hair coloring temporary, a shampoo, a body make-up, a child make-up, a tatoo or a baked powdered powder: "cooked powders". Preferably, the cosmetic composition is a foundation, a mascara or an eyeliner. Typically, a cosmetic composition comprises a fatty phase and / or an aqueous phase. The cosmetic aqueous pigment dispersion defined above is generally incorporated into the aqueous phase of the cosmetic composition. Thus, according to a third subject, the invention relates to a process for the preparation of a cosmetic composition as defined above comprising the introduction of an aqueous pigmentary cosmetic dispersion as defined above into the aqueous phase of the composition then the mixture of the aqueous phase obtained (that is to say the mixture of the aqueous phase of the cosmetic composition with the aqueous pigment dispersion as defined above) with the fatty phase of the cosmetic composition. In particular, the aqueous pigmentary cosmetic dispersion makes it possible to provide the pigment of the cosmetic composition. The cosmetic composition obtained when the cosmetic aqueous pigment dispersion defined above has been incorporated therein is homogeneous and its preparation did not require a grinding step, whereas the incorporation of a pigment as such into a cosmetic composition requires generally such a grinding step.
According to a fourth subject, the invention relates to a process for the preparation of an aqueous pigmentary cosmetic dispersion as defined above, comprising mixing the pigment, the suspending agent, the dispersing agent, water and glycerine characterized in that the suspending agent is added to a mixture comprising the pigment and the dispersing agent. The caking of the suspending agent is indeed advantageously avoided when the suspending agent is added after mixing the pigment and the dispersing agent. In the process, water and glycerine can be added simultaneously or separately. Typically, the process comprises the steps of: a) Providing a mixture of water and glycerine, b) Adding the dispersing agent, c) Adding the pigment, d) Adding the suspending agent, e) Grinding , Steps b) and c) can be reversed. Grinding makes it possible to adjust the size of the pigment particles. It can in particular be carried out by a ball mill.

Add phase D to phase A + B + C with slow stirring Example C: Challenge test of an aqueous pigment dispersion according to the invention A challenge test is a technique to evaluate the antimicrobial protection of a given substance (eg pharmaceuticals or cosmetics). This technique involves inoculating a known quantity of different microbial germs (bacteria, yeasts, molds) in the substance to be tested, and then counting these germs at various times. This measures the ability of a product to resist microbial contamination.
