Description
The field of the invention is that of pallets used for the transport or handling of loads. The invention is more particularly concerned with pallets divisible into at least two half-pallets.
A pallet generally consists of a plate provided on its lower face with sleepers arranged to support the plate. The sleepers are arranged to allow the passage of the fork of a handling machine between the tray and the ground. Pallets are commonly made of wood or cardboard. Several types of cardboard pallets have been proposed such as those obtained by the machine and the manufacturing method described in EP 0 750 568. These pallets have a standard format and can be used for the transport of heavy and bulky objects. of any kind. However, these pallets are unsuitable for displacements in small amounts of low volume or small loads. There are, for this purpose, divisible pallets which offer a certain flexibility in use by making it possible to separate an initial load on a pallet into two pallets of smaller dimensions which can be directed in different directions. The advantage is not having to unload the initial pallet before the final destination of the products. The difficulty for this type of pallet lies in the link between the two half pallets which must be broken or easily disconnected without having to carry out complex or even dangerous manipulations. EP 2 065 311 discloses such a divisible pallet using a tear strip provided for tearing the cardboard plate forming the pallet tray. The integration of a tear strip into the pallet plate nevertheless generates additional time and cost of manufacture. The Applicant has therefore sought to improve the situation by proposing a divisible cardboard pallet that does not include a tear strip. For this purpose, the invention of the present application relates firstly to a pallet comprising a cardboard tray and support crosspieces, said tray comprising first and second parallel precut lines, characterized in that each of the first and second lines comprise notches distributed along said line, the notches of the second line being offset from those of the first line and their projections on the first line overlapping with the notches of the first line .
The invention thus makes it easy to obtain small pallets from a standard size pallet. Remarkably, thanks to the offset of the notches of the first and second lines, the pre-cut of the pallet is sufficiently resistant to breakage during the handling of said pallet. The rigidity of the plate is thus ensured during handling, in particular during the transfer of the pallet in a handling machine. In addition, the overlap allows cutting without an easy tool of the pallet thereafter. Advantageously, the tray is made of corrugated cardboard. In a preferred embodiment, the notches are perpendicular to the corrugations of the carton. This allows careful cutting of the tray by hand, the ends of the notches of the first line being connected to the ends of the notches of the second line by the corrugations of the cardboard, perpendicular to the notches. Preferably, the corrugated cardboard is a double-double cardboard.
Advantageously, each of the sleepers comprises a cardboard envelope having perforations placed in the continuity of the cutting lines of the tray to allow the division of the pallet into two half-pallets. In one embodiment, the perforations are different from the notches of the precut lines of the tray.
The invention also relates to a method of manufacturing a pallet, comprising the steps of: - producing a first and a second parallel precut lines in a cardboard tray using at least one knife in forming notches distributed along each of the lines, the notches of the second line being offset from those of the first line and their projections on the first line overlapping with the notches of the first line; - Making sleeper envelopes from folded cardboard plates; - perforations in the envelopes; - forming sleepers by inserting reinforcements in the envelopes; and - fixing the sleepers to the plate. Embodiments of the invention will now be described in a more precise but nonlimiting manner with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: FIG. 1 is a diagrammatic view of a pallet according to the invention, in which the two halves pallets are integral with each other; Figure 2 is a top plan view of the pallet of Figure 1; - Figure 3 is a schematic view of the pallet of Figure 1 after cutting; and FIG. 4 is a flowchart illustrating the steps of the manufacturing process of the pallet of FIG. 1. As shown in FIG. 1, the pallet 2 according to the invention comprises a rectangular corrugated cardboard tray 4, double-double type. The plate 4 rests on crosspieces 6 comprising envelopes 8 and reinforcements 10. The envelopes 8 are formed from folded corrugated cardboard plates and the reinforcements 10 are, for example, cylindrical plastic mandrels. The sleepers 6 are arranged on the lower surface of the plate 4 so that a fork can be slid under the plate 4 in order to be able to move the pallet 2. The pallet 2 can be separated into two half-pallets 12, 14 through a cutting of the plate 4 along a precut pattern consisting of two parallel precut lines 16, 18. The precut lines 16, 18 appear in more detail in Figure 2 representing the tray 4 in top view . The first line 16 comprises a plurality of notches 20 distributed along said line 16. The width of a notch and the spacing between two adjacent notches are uniform here and respectively equal to L and e, L being preferably greater than e. Preferably, the distance L is chosen depending on the type of carton, including its flutes and paper weight. In the same way, the second line 18 comprises a plurality of notches 22 distributed along said line 18. The width of a notch and the spacing between two adjacent notches are here uniform. They are preferably equal to those of the first line 16. The width of each notch 22 is thus equal to L and the spacing between two adjacent notches is equal to e. According to the invention, the notches 22 of the second line 18 are offset with respect to the notches 20 of the first line 16 by a distance d less than the width L. In addition, the projections of the notches 22 on the first line 16 overlap 20. In a remarkable manner, this division of the notches ensures a resistance of the plate 4 30 during handling operations of the pallet 2 and easy subsequent cutting. More particularly, when a user cuts the tray 4, cutting is easy and clean, even with bare hands without using a particular cutting tool. This effect is improved thanks to the preferred relative arrangement of the notches with respect to the corrugations 24 of the cardboard of the plate 4. Indeed, when the corrugations 24 are perpendicular to the notches 20, 22 (FIG. 2), the cut is even easier and its result is cleaner. Figure 3 shows the pallet 2 after its cutting and its separation into two half-pallets 12, 14.
As it appears in this FIG. 3, in order to allow the division of the pallet 2, the envelopes 8 of the crosspieces 6 are provided with perforations 26, 28 regularly distributed over the perimeters of the envelopes 8 in the planes orthogonal to the plate 4 passing respectively through the cutting lines 16, 18 of the plate 4. For example, the pallet 2 is 600 mm long and 400 mm wide and the two half pallets 12, 14 have a length equal to 400 mm and a width equal to 300 mm. Cardboard pallets of this size are useful in many applications, particularly in the field of point-of-sale advertising. The steps of the method of manufacturing the pallet 2 are detailed in the following description with reference to the flowchart of FIG. 4. In a step 40, two corrugated cardboard plates with a double groove are cut under the form of a rectangle of predetermined dimensions to form the tray 4 of double-double corrugated cardboard. In step 42, the first and second precut lines 16, 18 are formed in the tray 4 at the desired place of separation of the wafer 2, that is to say according to the desired dimensions of the half-wafers. 12, 14. For this, at least one knife is used to make the cuts 20, 22. In step 44, two cardboard plates are cut and folded in parallelepiped shape to form the envelopes 8 of the crosspieces 6. The perforations 26 , 28 are then made in step 46 in the envelopes 8 by means of a forceps, for example. In step 48, the reinforcements 10 are inserted into the envelopes 8 to form the crosspieces 6. Preferably, several reinforcements 10 are regularly distributed in each envelope 8. In step 50, the cross members 6 are fixed below the plate 4 to serve as supports. Of course, other embodiments are possible. Thus, the pallet 2 can be manufactured conventionally using a machine of the state of the art implementing the steps 40, 44, 48 and 50 of the method. The steps 42, 46 for producing the precut lines and perforations are then carried out directly on the pallet 2.
In addition, the perforations 26, 28 of the sleeper envelopes can be replaced by cutting lines that are identical to or different from the cutting lines of the plate 4. Furthermore, the pallet 2 can be separated into a number of "half-pallets". to 2 according to the desired dimensions of the "half-pallets".
