Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a rotary sunroof in the form of a transparent circular porthole, in particular intended to be mounted on a motor vehicle. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
According to patent GB 2 243 346, a rotary sunroof in the form of a transparent circular porthole is known comprising two half-windows which are inscribed in a circle and situated in the same plane, when the roof is closed. This sunroof comprises means for controlling from this closed position, the displacement of one of said half-portholes to a position in which this half-window covers the other half-window by releasing a half-shaped opening. circle. These means comprise a very complicated mechanism comprising a plurality of rings, one of which has cams cooperating with fingers carried by another ring, for tilting one of the half-portholes to engage it under the other half-porthole. Such a mechanism is expensive to manufacture and generates friction that can shorten the life of this mechanism. The object of the present invention is to overcome this disadvantage. This object is achieved, according to the invention, thanks to a rotating sunroof comprising two half-portholes inscribed in a circle and located in the same plane, when the roof is closed and means for controlling from this closed position, the moving one of said half-windows to a position in which this half-window covers the other half-window by releasing a semicircular opening, characterized in that said means comprise a first peripheral ring mounted in rotation about the center of said circle, comprising a first thread engaged with a second threading formed on the semicircular periphery of said one of the half-portholes, such that the rotation of said peripheral ring controls the translation of said half-porthole towards a pre-opening position in which this half-window is offset from the plane of the other half-window, said first peripheral ring being surrounded by a second ring per iphérique mounted in rotation about the center of said circle, adapted to move said half-window by 180 ° rotation, from said pre-opening position, to said open position.
The translation of the half-window to the pre-opening position is thus achieved by screwing the thread of the first ring in the thread of the perimeter of the half-window. Preferably, the sunroof is transparent which improves the brightness of the cabin. This screwing is carried out in a progressive manner and substantially without friction, which allows a regular translation of the half-window parallel to itself to a pre-opening position from which the rotation of 180 ° of the second ring moves the half-window to the open position.
Preferably, the second ring comprises means for guiding the translation of the first ring between the closed position and the pre-opening position. Also preferably, said second thread is formed on a semicircular frame of said half-porthole.
In a particularly advantageous version of the invention, the other half-window is mounted on an annular frame which is itself rotatably mounted on an annular frame intended to be fixed on the roof of the vehicle. This arrangement makes it possible to easily modify the angular position of the two half-portholes, in the open position, with respect, for example, to the longitudinal axis of a vehicle or the angular position of one of the half-windows relative to the other half-window to reduce or decrease the opening of the sunroof. According to another advantageous feature of the invention, the annular frame of said other half-window is engaged in an annular groove of the frame to be fixed on the roof of the vehicle.
This annular groove thus guides the angular rotation of said other half-window. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the semicircular frame of said half-window is engaged in an annular groove of the second ring, one of the side walls of this groove having at least one recess extending in a direction perpendicular to the plane of this second ring, in which is engaged a rib formed on a side face of said frame semicircle and extending in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the frame.
The rib of the half-window frame engaged in the recess of the groove of the second ring thus guides the translation of the half-window to said pre-opening position. In a preferred version, the sunroof according to the invention comprises an engine adapted to successively control the following operations: - rotation of the first peripheral ring relative to the second peripheral ring to move by translation said half-window to said position of pre-opening, - rotation of the second peripheral ring to move said half-window to said open position in which said half-window covers the other half-window. This motor can also be adapted to control the following operations: rotation of all the two half-windows located in said open position relative to the fixed frame at a predetermined angle to orient the opening; one of the half-windows relative to the other half-window at a predetermined angle to obtain a partial opening. According to another aspect, the invention also relates to a motor vehicle equipped with a rotating sunroof according to the invention. Other features and advantages of the invention will become apparent throughout the description below. In the accompanying drawings, given by way of non-limiting example: FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a rotating sunroof according to the invention mounted on the roof of a motor vehicle, the two half-windows being in closed position, - Figure 2 is a view similar to Figure 1, one of the two half-portholes being in the pre-opening position, - Figure 3 is a view similar to Figures 1 and 2, the rotary sunroof being in the open position, - Figure 4 is a perspective view of the outer annular frame of the rotary sunroof according to the invention, - Figure 5 is a perspective view of the annular frame of the rear half-window to be mounted in the outer annular frame shown in FIG. 4; FIG. 6 is a perspective view of the control ring of the translation of the front half-window towards the pre-opening position; FIG. 7 is a perspective view of the guide ring of the translation of the Fig. 8 is an enlarged partial view of the guide ring shown in Fig. 7; Fig. 9 is a perspective view of the front half-window showing its semicircular shaped frame; FIG. 10 is an enlarged partial perspective view of the front half-window showing the threading of its frame engaged with the thread of the control ring of the translation of the half-window towards the pre-opening position, FIGS. 16 are perspective views of the sunroof in full open position, showing various angular positions of the two half-windows, - Figures 17 to 22 are perspective views of the sunroof in partial open position, showing various positions of the two half-portholes. Figure 1 shows a rotary sunroof according to the invention mounted on the roof 1 of a motor vehicle. This rotating sunroof comprises a front half-window 2 and a rear half-window 3 made of glass or other transparent material.
These two half-windows 2, 3 are inscribed in a circle and are located in the same plane, when the sunroof is closed, as shown in Figure 1. The rotating sunroof according to the invention comprises means that will be described in more detail below, making it possible to translate the front half-window 2 downwards, as shown by the arrow F in FIG. 2, towards a pre-opening position, in which the front half-window 2 is located in a plane offset from that of the rear half-window 3. From this pre-opening position the front half-window 2 can then be moved by rotation of 180 ° (see arrow F, of Figure 3) around the center of the circle in which are inscribed the two half-portholes 2 and 3 to the open position shown in Figure 3 in which the front half-window 2 covers the underside of the rear window 3 and thus clears an opening before 4 in the shape of a semicircle.
Figures 4 to 9 show the various parts constituting the rotary sunroof according to the invention. FIG. 4 shows the outer annular frame 5 intended to be mounted in a circular opening of the horn 1. FIG. 5 represents the annular frame 6 which carries the rear half-window 3. This annular frame 6 is intended to be mounted in the groove 7 of the annular outer frame 5 of Figure 4 to guide the rotation of the annular frame 6 of the rear half-window 3 around the center of the outer annular frame 5.
FIG. 6 shows the control ring 8 for controlling the translation of the front half-window 2 to the pre-opening position shown in FIG. 2. FIG. 7 shows the ring 9 for guiding the translation of the front half-window 2. This ring 9 has a groove 10 which is intended to receive the control ring 8, as shown in FIG. 8. FIG. 9 represents the frame 11 in the form of a semicircle which carries the half-porthole before 2. We are going to now describe in detail the means for controlling the different movements of the half-windows 2 and 3. Firstly, the translation along the arrow F (see Figure 2) of the front half-window 2 to the pre-opening position is controlled by the peripheral ring 8 (see FIGS. 6, 8 and 10) mounted in rotation around the center of the outer annular frame 5. This ring 8 comprises on its inner face a thread 8a engaged with a thread 11 made (see FIG. Figures 9 and 10) on the cha ssis 11 in the form of a half-circle of the half-window before 2.
As a result, the rotation of the peripheral ring 8 controls the translation of the front half-window 2 to the pre-opening position in which this half-window 2 is offset with respect to the plane of the rear half-window 3. The peripheral ring 8 is surrounded by a second peripheral ring 9 also rotatably mounted around the center of the outer annular frame 5, adapted to move the front half-window 2 by 180 ° rotation (see arrow F1, FIG. 3) from the position of pre-opening, to the full open position shown in Figure 3. The second ring 9 comprises means for guiding the translation of the first ring 8 between the closed position and the pre-open position. These means cooperate with complementary means provided on the periphery of the semicircular frame 11 of the front half-window 2. In the example shown (see FIGS. 8 and 9) the inner wall of the groove 10 of the ring 8 comprises one or more recesses 12 extending in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the ring 8 which are intended to each receive a rib 13 formed on the inner face of the frame 11 of the front half-window 2. Thus, when the ring 8 is driven in rotation, the threading 8a thereof engaged with the thread 11a of the frame 11 displaces the latter in translation, this translation being guided by the ribs 13 engaged in the recesses 12. Moreover, thanks to these ribs 13 and these recesses 12, the frame 11 of the front half-window 2 is secured to the ring 9. Thus, when the front half-window 2 is in the pre-opening position shown in Figure 2, the rotation of the ring 9 of 180 ° around the center of the outer frame 5 controls the rotation of the front half-window 2 to the open position shown in Figure 3. In the case of the embodiment shown in the accompanying figures, the displacement in translation of the front half-window 2 is obtained by a rotation of 60 ° of the ring 8 and therefore, the thread 8a thereof extends only over an angular sector 60 ° of the inner face of this ring 8. The rotation of this 8 ring is limited by a stop not shown. The rotary sunroof according to the invention preferably comprises a motorization adapted to successively control the following operations: - rotation of 60 ° of the peripheral ring 8 relative to the second peripheral ring 9 to move by translation the half-window before 2 verses the position of pre-opening, - rotation of the peripheral ring 9 to move the half-window before 2 to the open position in which the half-window 2 covers from below the half-rear porthole 3. This engine can in in addition to being adapted to control the rotation of all the two half-windows 2, 3 located in the fully open position relative to the fixed frame 5, at a predetermined angle to orient the opening of the roof, as shown by the FIGS. 11 to 16. FIG. 11 shows a starting position in which the two half-windows 2, 3 release an opening 4 located near the front of the roof 1. In FIG. The opening is located on the left and in FIG. 12, this opening 4 is situated in an intermediate position between those of FIG. 11 and of FIG. 13. In FIG. 14, the opening 4 is located on the right, in FIG. 15, it is located at the back and in Figure 16, we find the starting situation. All these positions can be obtained by rotating the circular frame 6 of the rear half-window 3 and the ring 9 secured to the frame 11 of the front half-window 2 relative to the fixed outer frame 5. The motor can also be adapted to control rotating one of the half-windows 2, 3 with respect to the other half-window at a predetermined angle to obtain a partial opening, as shown in FIGS. 17 to 22.
In these FIGS. 17 to 22, the actuator has controlled a 90 ° rotation of one of the half-portholes 2, 3 with respect to the other half-window, so as to obtain an opening 4a on an angular sector of 90.degree. ° facing forward to the right (Figure 17), back to the right (Figure 20), back to the left (Figure 18), Forward to the left (Figure 21), Forward (Figure 19) and backward (Figure 22).
All these positions can be obtained by motorization or manually by the user according to the wishes of the latter.
