The invention relates to internal combustion engines which comprise a cylinder head and an injector or spark plug tube.
The invention more particularly relates to an internal combustion engine having a cylinder head through which at least one bore for the passage of an injector or a candle. The cylinder head comprises at least one injector or spark plug tube, such as a spark plug or preheating plug. The tube is coaxial and is received in the bolt hole. The tube passes through at least one flow cavity of a cylinder head fluid, such as a coolant or oil, and has an upper end surface. The internal combustion engines which comprise an injector placed in central or offset position, and a fluid circulation cavity of the cylinder head, require, according to the constraints of space or according to the cooling constraints, a provision of the injector in which it passes through said fluid circulation cavity. During a subsequent disassembly of the injector, the tube can leave its housing because it can remain stuck to the injector because of the scale that can interpose and accumulate between the inner wall of the tube and the injector. GB299635, for example, describes and shows a configuration in which the inner guide is formed of a tube which is introduced through the upper end of the bolt hole. The tube is held in abutment against a surface of the cylinder head using a sleeve screwed into a cylindrical bore of the bore defining a thread suitable for that of the sleeve. A disadvantage of this solution is that it is necessary to make a thread for each piercing receiving an injector. This presents a high cost. In addition, it must be ensured that this assembly does not unscrew due to the particular environment of the cylinder head and in particular vibrations. The invention aims to overcome the above disadvantages by providing a simple and economical solution. To achieve this, the invention provides a motor of the type described above, wherein it comprises a cylinder head cover which is fixed on the cylinder head, which is pierced by a bore for the passage of the injector or candle and in that the upper end surface of the tube is opposite a surface of the cylinder head cover.
According to other features of the invention: the tube is held in abutment against a surface of the cylinder head by the cylinder head cover; the end surface of the tube may lie in the plane of the machined upper surface of the cylinder head and the surface of the cylinder head cover corresponds to the lower bearing surface against the upper face of the cylinder head. The upper end of the tube can be hooped into an upper cylindrical bearing surface of the bolt hole; there may be a gap between the upper end surface of the tube and the surface of the cylinder head cover. A resiliently deformable member may be disposed between the upper end surface of the tube and the surface of the cylinder head cover, a portion of the tube may be guided in a cylindrical bore of the bolt bore through one or more joints O-rings that seal the fluid in the cavity. Other features and advantages of the invention will appear on reading the detailed description which follows for the understanding of which reference will be made to FIG. 1 showing a schematic sectional view of the cylinder head assembly and cylinder head cover of the engine according to a first embodiment, and in Figure 2 showing the same schematic view according to a second embodiment. In the following description, like reference numerals designate like parts or having similar functions.
With reference to FIGS. 1 and 2, the engine according to the invention comprises, in a nonlimiting manner, a cylinder head 1, at least one injector tube 4, and a cylinder head 3. The cylinder head 1 is traversed by at least one drilling 2 (referenced in the figures by the axis of the bore) in which can be arranged an injector (not shown), a spark plug (not shown), or a preheating plug (not shown), substantially cylindrical and whose lower end opens into a combustion chamber (not shown) of the engine and at least a portion of which is received in a sealed manner in the coaxial tube 4 which is received in the bore 2 and which passes through at least one circulation cavity 24 1. In the case where it is a fuel injector, it is said that the engine is of the "direct injection" type.
The tube 4 comprises, on either side of the cavity 24, a coaxial lower end 42 which can be fixed by hooping in an associated lower cylindrical bearing surface of the bore 2 of the cylinder head 1. A portion of the tube 4 can be guided through a cylindrical surface 22 of the bore 2 of the cylinder head 1 by means of one or more O-rings 7 which seal the fluid of the cavity 24. During assembly, the tube 4 can be abutted against a surface 1. In this example, the surface corresponds to the lower surface of the fluid circulation cavity 24 of the cylinder head 1.
The cylinder head cover 3 is provided to be fixed on the upper surface 11 of the cylinder head 1. The cylinder head cover 3 is traversed by a bore 5 for the passage of the injector or candle. The bore 5, represented by its axis in the figures, is coaxial with the bore 2 once the cylinder head cover 3 assembled on the cylinder head 1. The injector, when used in the invention, is pressed against the bottom of the tube 4 using, for example, clamping systems (not shown) as known to those skilled in the art. The clamping systems are fixed on the cylinder head cover 3, so that it is not necessary to disassemble the cylinder head cover 3 to disassemble the injectors.
According to the invention, the upper end surface of the tube 4 is opposite a surface of the cylinder head cover 3. The invention thus makes it possible to block the injector tube 4 for maintenance operations on the injectors by a easy process to implement during the assembly of the engine. The tube 4 can be held in abutment against a surface of the cylinder head 1 by the cylinder head cover 3. According to a first embodiment of the invention shown in FIG. 1, the end surface 41 of the tube 4 is in the plane of the machined upper surface 11 of the cylinder head 1 and the surface of the cylinder head cover 3 is the lower bearing surface 31 against the upper face 11 of the cylinder head 1. The method of assembling the engine in this case comprises, non-limiting, a first step of insertion of the injector tube 4 or candle inside the bore 2 of the cylinder head 1, and a second step of fixing the cylinder head cover 3 on the cylinder head 1. And according to the invention , the injector or spark plug tube 4 protrudes from the upper surface 11 of the cylinder head 1, the method comprising an intermediate step of machining the upper surface 11 of the cylinder head 1 and the upper end surface 41 of the tube 4. The machining step allows to machine e at the same time the upper surface 11 of the yoke 1 as well as the upper end surface 41 of the tube 4 to ensure that the upper end surface 41 is in the plane of the upper surface 11 of the yoke 1. to contribute to the successful completion of this machining step while providing a good seal at the contact tube 4 and cylinder head 1, the tube 4 can be inserted inside the bore 2 of the cylinder head by shrinking of at least l upper end of the tube 4 in an upper cylindrical bearing surface 21 of the bore 2 of the cylinder head 1. The upper end of the tube 4 which is hooped in the upper cylindrical bearing surface 21 of the bore 2 of the cylinder head 1 thus forms a body with the cylinder head 1 , thus reducing the risk of breakage during the machining operation. The shapes and material of the tube 4 will be defined by those skilled in the art according to the differences in thermal expansion between the yoke 1 and the tube 4, so that the tube 4 is kept permanently abutting against the surface of the cylinder head 1 by the cylinder head cover 3, which gives increased rigidity of the cylinder head 1, and a better bending strength of the upper wall of the combustion chamber, formed in the cylinder head 1. According to a second embodiment shown in FIG. 2, there is a clearance between the upper end surface 41 'of the tube 4 and the surface 31 of the cylinder head cover 3. This game can be used in cases where it is difficult to design a tube 4 which expands properly vis- with respect to the cylinder head 1. According to a variant, to prevent the tube 4 from moving during a maintenance operation, because the clearance would be too great, the engine may comprise an element 6, elastically deformable, which is arranged between the upper end surface 41 'of the tube 4 and the surface 31 of the cylinder head cover 3. In the two embodiments shown, it is the lower surface 31 of the cylinder head cover 3 which faces the upper end surface. However, other surfaces of defined shape on the cylinder head cover may be envisaged by those skilled in the art, in particular for the second embodiment, depending on whether this upper end surface of the tube is underneath. or above the plane of the upper surface 11 of the cylinder head 1
