Abstract
Description
PROCEDE D'OBTENTION D'UN OBJET A EFFET REPULSIF D'INSECTES ET OBJET AINSIPROCESS FOR OBTAINING AN OBJECT WITH REPULSIVE EFFECT OF INSECTS AND OBJECT THUS
OBTENUGOT
The present invention relates to a method for obtaining an object with a repellent effect intended to eliminate or at least to keep animals and humans away, all flying or crawling insects, such as mites, mosquitoes, ants. Methods of this type have already been implemented by proposing suspenders for domestic use or bracelets or necklaces to wear oneself or by an animal to protect it against the parasites that infest them sometimes. A first problem arose because in the specific case of moth control, the product known as naphthalene was removed from the market because of its carcinogenic effects and other substances had to be found. with repellent effect. Thus geraniol has been proposed as a natural product known for its repellent effect precisely. But the difficulty was to determine a support to implement it. Thus appeared on the market plastic objects such as bracelets or necklaces impregnated with geraniol. But in use it turned out that these had an effectiveness in very limited time, even a few days. An analysis which constitutes a first phase of the inventive step, led to the conclusion that this disadvantage was due to the very nature of the plastic support, generally copolymer-ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) or polyvinyl chloride (PVC).
The problem being posed, the solution consisted in looking for a support material capable of storing the repellent substance and slowly releasing it in time, and to develop the object according to a suitable method.
To this end, the invention relates to a process for obtaining an object impregnated into the mass of a slow-release insects repellent substance, characterized in that it consists in: introducing at heart a concentrate of repulsive substance liquid in a solid thermoplastic component, by imbibition, more particularly an amide-block polyether, let stand the mixture thus carried out, inject the polyether of amide sequence saturated with repellent substance in a mold having any suitable structure, at a temperature below 120 C in such a way as not to denature said substance during injection. Such a product gives, according to the tests, excellent results because its release curve of the repellent substance is almost linear, like the polymers usually used, such as PVC or EVA, which have a hyperbolic release, the PVC giving the worse results because containing phthalates, also dangerous for health. In addition this product is less porous. The table of tests corresponding to the process and produced according to the invention, which will be presented later, demonstrates the effectiveness of these. Furthermore, it should be emphasized that ultra-purified geraniol obtained by fractional distillation of plants is a product of natural origin. In addition, only geraniol is mentioned in the context of the 98/8 biocide directive and it is also the only one that has a skin penetration test that demonstrates that this product can be used in human or animal applications without risk. to pass in the blood. Thus, the combination of a carefully chosen carrier, namely the amide-block polyether, with a repellent substance such as geraniol, has given excellent results. A practical example will be given hereinafter for the production of an object impregnated in the mass by an insect repellent substance, slow release, according to the method of the present invention.
This method consists in introducing a liquid repellent concentrate in a solid thermoplastic component into the core by imbibition. The absorption of the liquid substance by the thermoplastic component is carried out during a kneading in a rotary container, hermetically sealed and in which were previously introduced the two aforementioned components.
The agitation of the container containing the repellent substance and the amide-block polyether is between 20 minutes and 3 hours. The mixing is actually done until complete saturation of the thermoplastic component by the repellent liquid substance. In any case, the resulting mixture should not be greasy to the touch, since the amount of predetermined substance must be completely absorbed by the thermoplastic component. It is expected that the volume of concentrated repellent substance is 5 to 25% of the total weight of the object to be obtained. For this, the kneading takes place at a speed of 15 rpm for about one hour at an ambient temperature of about 20 ° C. It should be noted that the thermoplastic component is used in the form of beads or granules and consists of an amide-block polyether marketed by the company ARKEMA under the trade name PEBAX 2533a00 or Mx1717. With regard to the liquid repellent substance, it is geraniol used in the ultra-pure state. Geraniol, also known as rhodinol, is an unsaturated terpenic alcohol whose empirical formula is C10H180. This is a natural product found in the essential oils of geranium, lemon and lemongrass. It responds to European Directive 30 98/8 EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 February 1998 concerning the placing on the market of biocidal products and in this case pest control products. After mixing, the mixture thus obtained is allowed to stand for about 24 hours in an airtight container at room temperature until the moment of injection. At the time of injection of the polyether saturated amide sequence, can be added a dye in powder form, or liquid, while being careful not to exceed 120 C, so as not to degrade the repellent substance. The powder will of course be of a predetermined color according to the application. The dye will be free of any cadmium or other heavy metals and meets Rohs regulations for the release of heavy metals into the environment. Advantageously, the amide-block polyether will be devoid of antioxidant.
6 Dans ces tableaux : The injection is carried out at high pressure, according to the known thermoplastic technique, in a mold, according to a selected demoldable form, and allows according to the invention to obtain solid objects of corresponding shapes impregnated at heart for a release slow and durable in time, up to a year, in a normal environment, that is to say in the open air. The test tables show the good results obtained with insects, in this case 25 mites, confined in a volume of 1m3 with the product according to the invention. 6 In these tables:
