Description

1 La présente invention a pour objet un procédé de fabrication d'uneThe subject of the present invention is a method of manufacturing a

There are known chains made of the assembly of plastic links used in very different applications, whether in the field of fashion, for example that of costume jewelry or that of leather goods, or in the field of security to allow to delimit an area.

These chains are manufactured according to a variety of processes. Thus, the continuous molded chains are known, which requires an expensive specific material, and which does not make it possible to achieve a result of great precision, so that the chains thus manufactured are used to delimit an area, on a building site. for example. Also known are the chains from the assembly of open links, C-shaped, which have the advantage of a quick and easy assembly, but on the other hand are unattractive and unsightly.

Closed links are also known, cut to create an opening for passing another link, and optionally welded. The chains thus manufactured are more solid and are of limited use in the field of aesthetics, especially because of the apparent solder, especially when the links are not united, but have decorative motifs. The present invention aims to provide a method of manufacturing a chain consisting of the assembly of links of a plastic material, which allows to obtain a very strong chain, without breaking the uniformity of appearance. The method of manufacturing a chain consisting of the assembly of links of a plastic material according to the invention, is characterized in that it consists of cutting a link, to assemble another link by passing it through the slot obtained by cutting, then waiting for the recovery of shape of the material, especially at the cutting line, then 2903627 2 to introduce into said slot a sufficient amount of one of the solvents adapted to said plastic material, finally to abut the two sections until joining. It has been found that the application of this method makes it possible to obtain a chain whose links are uniform, and show no trace of the cutting operation. This result is also obtained when the links have decorative patterns. According to an additional feature of the method of manufacturing a chain according to the invention, the two abutting sections are held together until they are secured. After the deposition of the solvent, depending on the plastic used, and also according to the section of the ring, the shape memory of the ring may not be sufficient, it is then necessary to maintain the two sections, another additional characteristic of the method of manufacturing a chain according to the invention is cutting one link in two of the chain. Indeed, for example, a chain of four links can be achieved by means of at least two cut links. According to a preferred procedure of the process according to the invention, the plastic consists of cellulose acetate, while the solvent consists of acetone. The method of manufacturing a chain according to the invention is usable whatever the shape of the links, the latter being round, square, rectangular, twisted, and also whatever the shape of the section of the ring. The advantages and characteristics of the process according to the invention will become more clearly apparent from the description which follows and which refers to the appended drawing, which represents a non-limiting embodiment thereof. In the accompanying drawing, Figures 1, 2 and 3 show schematic views of successive steps of the method according to the invention.

In FIG. 1, a ring 1, made of a plastic material, for example cellulose acetate, in which a slot 2 is made by means of a cutting tool 3, can be seen. The cutting tool 3 is preferably provided capable of producing a straight slot, but it is perfectly possible to provide other shapes. In FIG. 2, after opening of the ring 1 at the level of the slot 2, a ring 4 is introduced into it. Then, after recovery of the shape of the plastic, at the level of the section, 10 is deposited in the slot 2 a quantity of solvent 5, which consists of one of those adapted to the plastic material of which ring 1 is made. Thus, in the case of cellulose acetate, the solvent 5 is preferably acetone.

It is then sufficient to abut the two sections 6 and 7 to obtain finally, as can be seen in FIG. 3, a reconstituted ring 1, associated with the ring 4 and thus constituting the beginning of a chain 8, and without leaving any trace of the slot 2.

The abutment of the two sections 6 and 7 can be done naturally, by the shape memory of the ring 1, but it may be necessary to perform a holding operation.
