The section (14) is articulated at its end with the base by the joint (18) and at another end with the section (16) by the joint (20). The section (16) is articulated at its end with the mirror by the joint (22). The base is fixed on a roof (6) and concealed under a cover of the roof.

Description

RETROVISEUR COMPORTANT UN BRAS CONSTITUE DE PLUSIEURS SECTIONS ARTICULEESMIRROR COMPRISING AN ARM CONSISTING OF MULTIPLE ARTICULATED SECTIONS

TECHNICAL FIELD The invention relates to a rearview mirror comprising a base, a mirror and an arm connecting the mirror to the base. It also relates to a motor vehicle equipped with this mirror. U.S. Patent 4,899,975 discloses a mirror and a vehicle of this type.

The rear view mirrors of current vehicles can be bulky. This is particularly the case when the vehicles are equipped with various sensors located in the base of the rear view mirror. The latter then occupies a large volume which hinders, in some configurations, the orientation of the mirror. The extreme positions are limited and do not allow enough orientation of the mirror for very large or very small drivers. This is the case especially for extreme users (5th percentile, 95th percentile) who can not sufficiently orient the rearview mirror to obtain a comfortable performance. In addition, many current vehicles are equipped with panoramic windshields also called full-face windshields. These windshields go up and back at the roof level and the mirror is located on the windshield. The implementation of the rearview mirror is embarrassing because it gives the impression that the latter is located in the middle of the windshield. The result obtained is therefore not satisfactory from the point of view of perceived quality. In addition, this implantation spoils the panoramic effect of the windshield. The present invention specifically relates to a rear view mirror and a motor vehicle that overcome these disadvantages. These objects are achieved, according to the invention, in that the arm consists of several sections interconnected by joints. Advantageously, the joints are ball joints. The arm is for example made of two sections. The base of the mirror is fixed on the roof. It can be concealed under a roof of the pavilion. Other features and advantages of the invention will become apparent upon reading the following description of an exemplary embodiment given by way of illustration with reference to the appended figure. This figure shows a rearview mirror and a vehicle according to the present invention. In the single figure the vehicle comprises a windshield, for example a panoramic windshield 2. This windshield is connected, at its lower part, to a lower crossbar of the bay 4 and at its upper part, to a roof 6. The mirror comprises a base 8 and a mirror 10. The base 8 is fixed to the roof 6 at the ceiling of the vehicle, which allows to completely clear the windshield 15 panoramic 2. The mirror 8 and the base 10 are connected by an arm 12 consisting of several sections 14 and 16. The section 14 is articulated, at one of its ends, to the base 8 by a hinge 18 and at its other end to the section 16 by a articulation 20. The section 16 is hinged at one end, at section 14 by the hinge 20 and at its other end to the mirror 10 by the hinge 22. The hinges 18, 20 and 22 are for example ball joints. With these features, the mirror can be oriented at leisure relative to the base 8, including when the latter is bulky. This ensures a comfortable service for all users, including the largest and the smallest. The windshield is clear and allows to completely discover the panoramic view. If necessary, the power supply of the rearview mirror can pass through the mirror arm, especially in the case of electrochromic mirrors.

The base 12 can be camouflaged under the covering of the roof 6.
