Description
BIJOU COMPRENANT UN ELEMENT SENSIBLEMENT SPHERIQUE TEL QU' UNE PERLE ET UNJEWEL COMPRISING A SUBSTANTIALLY SPHERICAL ELEMENT SUCH AS A PEARL AND A
The present invention relates to a jewel, comprising a bead or other substantially spherical element and bare support. Pearls have been used to make jewelry since antiquity, and the means of fixing them on a support have evolved little: the beads are either glued on the support or pierced and glued on a rod secured to the support. These solutions have the disadvantage of hiding a large part of the bead, and, in the case of drilling, to transform the bead irreversibly. Thus, it is interesting, especially for the perfectly round pearls, which are the rarest and most expensive, to have a fastening means which, on the one hand, does not damage the pearl and on the other hand , can highlight the almost perfect shape and size of the pearl that is mounted on the jewel. A known device partially achieves these objectives, by providing a ring made by means of a split ring, and in the opening of which the bead is held by pinch effect. The two ends of the ring are dug to form two housing for receiving a portion of the bead. The invention proposes to overcome the drawbacks mentioned above while providing a fixing of the bead leaving a visible portion of the bead more important than the prior art. Thus, the jewel according to the invention comprises a substantially spherical element, such as a jewelery bead, and a support; the support being such that it comprises a strip, preferably made of a metallic material, having at a first end a cutout of substantially circular shape, of a diameter smaller than the diameter of the spherical element, and at the second end a light , the strip being shaped in a winding such that the first end covers the second, and such that the spacing between the cutout and the light form a housing for fixing the spherical element, the strip being such that the introduction of the spherical element in the housing requires a slight elastic deformation of a portion of the strip, the spherical element being then maintained thanks to the elasticity of the material constituting the strip, between, on the one hand, the outline of the cutting and, on the other hand, at least a portion of the outline of the light. Thus a jewel according to the invention has several advantages: simplicity of manufacture, because it just requires the cutting and shaping of a band, the reliability of the binding, the ball being firmly maintained thanks to the elasticity of the support , thus constituting a clip. the possibility of fixing a pearl in a completely removable manner and without degradation thereof, an appreciable aesthetic, particularly important in the field concerned, the jewel allowing to leave a very large part of the pearl visible, the possibility of exchanging very simply and very quickly, without tools, the pearl that we want to fix on the support. In one embodiment, the center of the cutout is located at a distance from the first end of the strip below the radius of the spherical element, so that the cutout opens at the end of the strip, thus defining two branches. In one embodiment, the shape and dimensions of the light are such that they allow the passage of the spherical element through the light. In one embodiment, the winding of the strip is such that it allows the introduction of the spherical element into its housing by passing it through the light from inside the ring formed by this winding. In one embodiment, the jewel is shaped such that a portion of the spherical element protrudes inwardly of the winding when this interior is cleared so that when this jewel is threaded on the finger of a nobody, the finger participates in the maintenance of the spherical element by pushing it against the contour of the cut. In one embodiment, the shape and dimensions of the light are such that they do not allow the passage of the spherical element through the light. In one embodiment, the branches deform elastically during the introduction of the spherical element. In one embodiment, the second end of the band has a chamfer, such that the chamfered face rests on the band. Other features and advantages of the invention will become apparent with the description of some of its embodiments, this being done with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: FIG. 1 shows a ring-type jewel FIG. 2 shows a strip forming the support before winding, FIGS. 3a and 3b show the principle of introducing the sphere onto a ring-type jewel, and FIGS. 4a and 4b show the principle of introduction. of the sphere on a pendant-type jewel Figure 1 shows a jewel 10 according to the invention, comprising a spherical element 12, such as a bead, and a support 14 in a metal band, preferably a precious metal and easy to wear. in shape. It can easily be seen that since the thickness of the strip-shaped support 14 is limited, it makes it possible to leave most of the bead visible. Figure 2 shows a strip 16 of length 1, constituting the support 14 of Figure 1, before its final shaping, that is to say before winding. This band has at a first end 17 a cutout 18 of substantially circular shape. The diameter d of this cut is slightly smaller than the diameter of the bead 12 that one wishes to be able to mount on the jewel. The difference is for example one tenth of a millimeter. In the example of FIG. 2, this cutout 18 is open on the first end of the strip 16, that is to say that the distance between the center 19 of the cutout 18 and the end 17 is less than radius of this cut. The cutout 18 then defines two branches 171 and 172 intended to grip the bead 12. At its second end 21, the band 16 comprises a chamfer 24. The oblique surface that it forms is intended to bear on the surface of the strip 16 during winding. Close to this second end 21 is disposed a light 20. The shape and dimensions of this light 20 allow or not the passage of the bead through the light. Thus, in a first embodiment, wherein the jewel is intended primarily to form a ring, and shown in Figure 1, the light 20 allows the passage of the bead. In this case, the dimensions of the winding of the strip 16 are sufficient to introduce the bead 12 into its housing by passing it through the inside of the winding (see FIG. 3a), through the light 20, as shown in Figures 3a and 3b. The distance 1 between the two ends of the strip, and therefore between the cutout 18 and the light 20, is such that the passage of the bead must be slightly forced, that is to say, cause an elastic deformation of the support enough to let the pearl through.
Once introduced, it is trapped between the contour of the cutout 18 and a portion of the contour of the light 20, near its end 22 remote from the second end 21 of the strip 16. When the bead is correctly positioned, the It is held firmly thanks to the elasticity of the metal constituting the support 14. In other words, the fixing of the bead 12 on the support 14 constitutes a clip. It should be noted that once the ring passed to a finger, it participates in the maintenance of the pearl, preventing any deformation of the support that would release the pearl 12, but also by obstructing the light 20. The finger contributes also the maintenance of the bead 12 against the contour of the cutout 18, because by threading the ring, the finger pushes the bead, a portion thereof protruding inwardly of the winding through the light 20. second embodiment is shown in Figures 4a and 4b. The jewel is preferably intended to be used as a pendant and may be smaller in size than the jewel shown in Figure 1. The dimensions of the lumen 20 do not allow the pearl to pass through.
As shown in Figures 4a and 4b, the bead is inserted into its housing by the outside of the winding that constitutes the support. This introduction also requires causing a slight elastic deformation of the support 14, and in particular a spacing of the branches 171 and 172 in a direction substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the strip 16, thereby passing the bead 12, the elasticity of the material then allowing the maintenance of the pearl once it is correctly positioned.
