Abstract

The procedure consists of folding the fabric (1) to make a number of layers, placing it on a support (2) with a mesh surface (3), and spraying one side (1b) with a coloured dye at a given pressure so that it passes through the layers. The dye can be applied in geometrical patterns (5) or designs, and after spraying the dye on one side the fabric can be turned over so that it can be sprayed on the other side in the same patterns. In a variant of the procedure the fabric can be sprayed with a reducing agent to remove dye and then passed through a dye bath that colours only the areas from which dye has been removed.
