Ainsi, lorsqu'une corde (ou autre matériel) est accrochée à l'anneau de pontet, elle empêche un positionnement correct de ce bord inférieur du vêtement, surtout lorsque la corde est orientée vers le haut. La partie inférieure du vêtement forme alors un bourrelet disgracieux et peu pratique, voire même dangereux car une portion de tissus peut par exemple gêner l'accès à un matériel de freinage accroché au pontet, voire même se prendre dedans et en perturber le fonctionnement.
