Abstract

The surfboard (100) has a length delimited by a front part (100a) called the prow and a rear part (100b) called the stern.   The present invention relates to the field of nautical industry and more particularly proposes a board for sliding for the practice of surfing capable of helping its user in the learning of this sport.

DESCRIPTION OF ANT RIEUR ART

  Surfing, abbreviation of the English word "surf-riding" with "surf" for "surf" and "to ride" for "ride" is a generic term which defines sport and / or leisure activities consisting in maintaining balance on a board carried by a breaking wave. The wave is a wave that travels on a body of water to ultimately break on the sea coast and anyone who uses the energy of a breaking wave to be carried, via a gliding board, can then be considered like a

  To date there are different methods of surfing

  which are listed in two broad categories.

  The first category of surfing called "body board", particularly indicated for beginners, is practiced with the surfer in a lying position on the board. The second category of surfing more commonly called "long board", already more indicated for the regulars of the first category and therefore for non-beginners, is practiced with the surfer in a standing position on the board. Indeed, once the surfer has learned the practice of "body surfing", he must learn to straighten on the board to practice the "long board" of the second category by learning to get up on the board in one only movement so as not to lose your -2

  balance on the breaking wave.

  It must generally proceed dry and on the beach by placing the board on the sand and passing the

  lying down to standing in one go.

  To do this, he must place his hands flat on the board at shoulder height and then, by resting on his hands, he exerts a dynamic repulsion movement on the board and takes advantage of this impulse to slide the legs under his body by performing a slight rotational movement which allows him to put his feet well across the middle of the board and spaced about 50 to 60 cms, avoiding going through an intermediate phase in which we place a knee on the board to straighten up. He must then redo on

  waves the same movement as that performed on the sand.

  For this, he must not rush his recovery but wait to be stable on his board, carried by the breaking wave, to straighten up, in a short time, to avoid creating additional imbalances. He then adopts a good balance position when he is standing on the board: obviously trying not to stand up straight. On the contrary, he must remain in the bent position to lower his center of gravity, arms slightly apart, shoulders slightly oriented towards the beach. He must place his feet well to keep a good balance position and remain slightly bent on his legs. He finally raises his head and looks away: beginners often have the impression of having their legs bent while they are stretched but the bust is completely "broken". To correct this defect, it is often enough to raise your head and look away. This movement causes a

  automatic repositioning of other parts of the body.

  The applicant was able to observe the great difficulties of learning the good gestures encountered by a beginner or a child in the practice of "long board" -3, that is to say surfing in a standing position which requires a lot of physical ability, in particular level of maintaining balance because the transition from the prone position to the standing position in one go is often for some, a fairly important physical feat. It is moreover difficult for him to quickly acquire the musculation, the flexibility and the reflexes necessary for the sense of vital balance, because linked to a too temporary practice and with unfortunate consequences due to a bad conditioning. Known physical training devices are often tedious to use and do not, or very partially, appeal to the sense of balance and the physiology associated therewith. The plaintiff also noted that, when the surfer is left to himself, he does not know which position to adopt, at the risk of choosing the wrong one and consequently causing a bad gesture resulting in most

  cases of imbalance problems.

  It is also classic that the educator does not always have all the necessary knowledge himself

  to teach or to show good gestures.

  In addition, when the surfer is left to himself, it is difficult for him to know if he is performing in situ and dynamically on the waves, the right gestures having not received

  teaching that in static on the sand.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

  What finding, the applicant has therefore conducted research to allow better and faster learning of the good gestures achievable for practice

  surfing using the "long board" method.

  This research led to the conception of a new concept of board for the practice of surfing, particularly advantageous and obviating the aforementioned drawbacks by allowing to educate or to

  quickly develop a sense of balance.

  According to the invention, this new gliding board for the practice of surfing, of the type of that having a length delimited by a front part called bow and a rear part called stern, a width delimited in a transverse direction by a first lateral edge called port and a second lateral edge called starboard, and a thickness delimited by an upper support face of the surfer and a sole ensuring the lift for the gliding movement of the board on the surf, is remarkable in that the above board is fitted, on its upper support face, with at least one prominent gripping means which it can grasp with one or both hands to hold it or hold onto it firmly so as to position itself on the board in a new

kneeling station.

  The object of the invention is therefore to propose a new concept of gliding board for the practice of surfing which does not fit either in the first category (lying position) or in the second category (standing position) since with the help of the gripping means to which he can grip firmly, he will be able to surf directly with a posture on his knees on the board of gliding of the invention which thus makes it enter a third category. It is the presence of this means of grip which gives the surfer the ability to master this new posture within a short time. In addition, this new third category gliding board would be an intermediate device to aid in learning much faster the second category gliding board for the practice of "long board" since it will now be more easy to go from kneeling to standing. The board of the invention will therefore make it possible to quickly empower and inform the surfer in his learning to

  surfing while standing.

  The present invention therefore has more particularly -5 for the purpose of producing a gliding board for the practice of surfing allowing a beginner to quickly experience his first sensations of gliding in the most realistic way possible, while reassuring him so that '' he can start surfing fairly quickly according to the practice of "long board" with a minimum of

restraint and tension.

  According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the aforesaid board comprises two gripping means which, arranged on the lateral sides of the board, to port and to starboard thereof, are constituted by handles. The fact of having two lateral handles strengthens the notion of balance by a better distribution of forces. In addition, once balance has been achieved, it is possible to apply pressure from top to bottom on one of the side handles towards the port or starboard side of the board so that the corresponding side of the board acts as a rudder and steers the

  plank in either direction.

  Another object of the invention is to propose preferential dimensions of its gliding board more suited to the practice of kneeling surfing using handles, namely: - 140 cms for its length between the extreme parts of the bow and stern, - 35 cms for the width of the bow,

  - and 50 cms for the width of the stern.

  Similarly, the handles of the board will adopt the following preferred dimensions - 60 cms for their length, - 5 cms in width,

- and 6 cm high.

  The combination of the two main characteristics of the invention, namely the presence of the handles and the new dimensions of the board, constitutes one of the great advantages of the gliding board of the invention -6 which will allow the surfer to practice his sport or leisure in a new kneeling position, without much preparation. The fundamental concepts of the invention having just been exposed above in their most basic form, other details and characteristics will emerge more clearly on reading the

  description which follows and with reference to the appended drawings,

  by way of nonlimiting example, various embodiments of a gliding board for the practice of

surf according to the invention.

  DESCRIPTION OF THE IMPLEMENTATION MODES PR F R S

  As illustrated in all of the drawings, the sliding board of the invention, referenced P as a whole, consists of a board 100 formed from a resin material (polypropylene, polystyrene, etc.) derived from new technologies for manufacturing classic surfboards. As illustrated in the drawing in FIG. 2, this plate 100 offers: - a length "l" of the order of 140 cms delimited by a front part 100a said prow adopting a straight edge -7 with a width 'Ll' of of the order of 35 cms and a rear part 100b, called the stern, adopting an edge forming a re-entrant angle and the ends of which define a width "L2" of the order of 50 cms, - a width "L" delimited in a transverse direction by a first lateral edge 100c said port and a second lateral edge 100d said starboard, both connecting the bow 100a to the stern 100b with a harmonic convex configuration, - and a thickness "e" which, delimited by an upper face 100f with a coating adequate to facilitate the support and the restraint of the surfer and a sole 100g ensuring the lift for the sliding movement of the board 100 on the breaking wave therefore having a surface state facilitating this sliding movement, is studied in function ion of the material used to offer the board a good compromise between rigidity and lightness. According to the main provisions of the invention, the board 100 is fitted, on its upper support face 100f, with two handles 200c and 200d arranged on the lateral sides of the board respectively on port lOOc and on starboard lOOd thereof. to form two gripping means so that the surfer can grasp them with both hands to hold them or hold onto them firmly so as to position themselves on the board in a new kneeling station while having the possibility of exerting pressure on one or the other so that the port or starboard serves as

rudder.

  According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, these two handles 200c and 200d adopt the following dimensions: - 60 cms for their length, - 5 cms in width,

- and 6 cm high.

  -8 These handles 200c and 200d preferably made of the same resin material as the board 100 can be obtained by shaping either in a single piece with the board by conventional molding or injection techniques or independently to be fixed from removably on the board 100. In this latter embodiment illustrated in the drawings of FIGS. 3a and 3b, the board 100 is then formed on its lateral edges 100c and 100d of slots 101 through which threads 201 equipping the aforementioned handles 200 to be capped by bolts 202 with manual screwing making it possible to block by simple manual tightening the handles 200 on the board 100. In these drawings, the indices "c" and "d" of the numerical references have been deliberately omitted for a

  better understanding of the invention.

  It is understood that the gliding board for the practice of surfing, which has just been described and represented above, has been for the purpose of a disclosure rather than a limitation. Of course, various adjustments, modifications and improvements could be made to the example above, without going beyond the ambit of

  the invention as defined in the claims.

  Thus, for example, the technology for manufacturing the handles is not stopped, the latter being able to be imagined differently in their shape like those illustrated in FIG. 4 or in their dimensions as

  those illustrated in Figures 5a and 5b.

  Similarly, it is possible to imagine associating these handles with directional fins so that by acting on the handles, said fins will also

  rudder board (100).

Claims (11)

  1. Gliding board (P) for the practice of surfing, of the type consisting of a board (100) having: - a length (1) delimited by a front part (lOa) called bow and a rear part (100b ) said stern, - a width (L) delimited in a transverse direction by a first lateral edge (lOOc) said port and a second lateral edge (lOOd) said starboard, - and a thickness (e) delimited by an upper face (100f ) support of the surfer and a sole (100g) ensuring the lift for the sliding movement of the board (100) on the breaking wave, CHARACTERIZED BY THE FACT THAT the above board (100) is arranged on its face upper support (100f), of at least one prominent gripping means (200c or 200d) that the eur surfer can grasp with one or both hands to hold it or hold onto it firmly so as to position himself   on the board (100) in a new kneeling station.   2. Gliding board (P) according to claim 1, CHARACTERIZED BY THE FACT THAT it comprises two means of grip (200c and 200d).   3. Sliding board according to claims 1, 2 and   6, CHARACTERIZED BY THE FACT THAT the board (100) is formed on its lateral edges (lOOc and lOOd) of lights (101) through which threads (201) are fitted equipping the said gripping elements (200c and 200d) to be capped by manual screwing bolts (202) allowing the gripping elements (200c and 200d) to be blocked on the board by simple manual tightening (100).   10. Gliding board (P) according to any one of   claims 1 to 9, CHARACTERIZED BY THE FACT THAT the   said board (100) adopts the following dimensions: - 140 cms for its length (1) between the extreme parts of the bow (lOQa) and the stern (1Ob), - 35 cms for the width (Ll) of the bow ( lOOa), - and 50 cms for the width (L2) of the stern (lOOb) 11.
