Abstract

The invention relates to a folding bed which rolls up and is stored vertically with a reduced bulk in a structure with articulated slats, for example of the roller shutter apron type. It consists of a structure (1) of the roller shutter apron type which can serve as a support for the bed in a horizontal position for sleeping, and as a storage envelope by rolling up during vertical placement on the end pieces arranged at the end of the slats. The bed base (2) consists in particular of three removable panels which are fixed horizontally on the structure (1) when sleeping or which are superimposed and are rolled up in the mattress (3) during storage. The one-piece mattress (3) is placed horizontally on the panels of the box spring (2) when sleeping or is wrapped around the panels of the box spring (2) during storage. Fastening means (4), of the strap type, are fixed to the structure (1) and allow the bed to be kept closed in the storage position. Handles (5) are fixed to the structure (1) by overlapping the fastening means (4) and allow the bed to be manipulated when it is closed for storage.

Description

This invention relates to a folding and rolling folding bed

vertically with

  reduced bulk in a wrapping structure.

  A bed, even an extra one, is often in a horizontal position which gives it a more or less bulky occupation on the floor or in space. A folding bed is generally obtained from a folding bed base and mattress, and most often allows the sleeping of a single person thus showing relatively poor service for

significant bulk.

  The object of the invention is the transformation of a bed, in particular in the case where it would be usable for two adults, into a compact and vertical storage space which saves space very substantially. The principles of assembling and disassembling the parts of the bed for sleeping and storage are facilitated by the

  handling of space-saving and flexible elements.

  Thus, the subject of the invention is a folding bed intended to be stored vertically with a reduced size of the type comprising a folding bed base and mattress, characterized in that it also comprises, a structure made up of a plurality of elongated elements laterally connected to each other with the possibility of angular displacement ensuring the horizontal support in the sleeping position and playing the role of vertical envelope by winding in the storage position, and means for fastening and closing the bed in position storage. According to other characteristics: - the horizontal support structure in the sleeping position and the vertical wrapping in the storage position consists of blades articulated along their length provided with relative holding means in the direction of the length of said blades and whose length of

  A more detailed description will be made with reference to the accompanying drawings appearing from 1

With reference to these drawings, the structure (1) is a set of blades articulated along their length which can be the apron of a rolling shutter so as to be a horizontal support for the bed base (2) and the mattress ( 3) in the sleeping position, and a storage envelope for the same bed base (2) and mattress (3) in the vertical position, and comprising locking and protective ends at the ends of the blades. The bed base (2) is made up of three identical panels which are superimposed during storage and which can be fixed to the structure, by means of fixing means, during the sleeping position. The mattress (3), in one piece, is placed on the bed base (2) in the sleeping position or else wraps the bed base panels (2) during storage. The structure (1) is closed for storage by straps (4). Handles (5), fixed to the structure (1) at the same level

  that the straps (4) allow to manipulate the bed when it is closed.

  The production of the folding bed thus comprises the following different parts: - the structure (1) with blades articulated along their length of the roller shutter type, in particular aluminum but which can also be made of plastic, wood or another material, comprises plastic end caps attached to the ends of the blades to prevent the blades from sliding in length and to provide protection at both ends. The end pieces of the roller shutter apron are naturally placed astride the ends of two contiguous blades and offset from the opposite ends. A system of equivalent end caps would be used for a structure (1) not coming from a roller shutter curtain. The structure (1) can be the support of the bed in a horizontal position for sleeping by receiving the bed base (2) and the mattress (3), and can be the storage envelope of the same bed base (2) and mattress (3) during vertical winding on the end caps. The length of the blades of the structure (1) corresponds to the length of the bed and all of the blades in their width correspond to the width of the bed so as to obtain the compactness of the invention in the manner of a column. The blades of the structure (1) are full in order to provide resistance. The structure (1) has, on the inside length of three blades, fixing means (7) in order to allow the adhesion of the bed base (2); these fixing means (7) are

  separated by an equal distance corresponding to the width of a panel of the box spring (2).

  - the box spring (2) is preferably broken down into three equal panels each having the length, the length of the bed and the width, one third of the width of the bed. Each panel has on the side an external longitudinal strip (9) where a fixing tape (8) is sewn there. In the sleeping position, each panel is fixed vis-à-vis on one of the blades of the structure (1) provided with a fixing tape (7) by complementarity of shapes. The three panels form, for sleeping, the surface of the bed, the dimensions of which are inscribed inside the structure (1). In the storage position, the bed base panels (2) are stacked and rolled up in the mattress (3). The box spring panels (2) are made of a compact and flexible material with a density adapted to meet the quality of the box spring

  (2). The panels are preferably covered with a fabric cover.

  - The mattress (3), in one piece, exactly superimposes the surface of the box spring (2) in length and in width in the sleeping position. The mattress (3) can be made of the same material as the bed base panels (2) in a smaller thickness and with a density adapted to meet the quality of the mattress (3). The mattress (3) is preferably covered with a fabric cover and has strips (6) of fabric, in particular three, sewn on one of its faces. These bands (6) hold, for storage, the mattress (3) wrapped around

  bed base panels (2) by means of tapes for complementary shapes.

  The bands (6) may possibly be integral with the internal face of the structure at

  instead of being sewn on the mattress (3).

  - The closure straps (4), in particular two, are fixed to the inner face of one of the end blades of the structure (1) by riveting or by sewing, and this, perpendicularly and externally to the structure. The straps (4) can be rubberized upholstery bands or bands of reinforced fabric. Tapes for complementary shapes are sewn on the straps (4) to keep the structure (1) closed during storage. - The handles (5), in particular in leather and which may be made of plastic or other material, are fixed by sewing or by riveting on the external face of the same end blade of the structure (1) and respect the same spacing as the straps (4) overlapping them. The

  number of handles (5) is equal to the number of closing straps (4).

  In the accompanying drawings which illustrate the invention: FIG. 1 shows in an isometric view, the bed stored in a vertical position. The structure (1) with articulated blades, in particular in the roller shutter deck, is kept closed by straps (4). The structure (1) envelops the mattress (3) which itself envelops the

  base panels (2). The handles (5) are fixed at the closure straps (4).

  The box spring (2) and the mattress (3) have exactly the same length as that of the

  structure (1) is a little more important.

  Figure 2 shows in isometric view, the semi-open bed in a horizontal position. The structure (1) with articulated blades, in particular as a roller shutter curtain, is placed horizontally with the closing straps (4) visible at the level of the handles (5). The mattress (3), placed on the structure (1), is wrapped around the bed base panels (2) superimposed horizontally. The mattress (3) is kept rolled up by strips (6) sewn on one of

its faces.

  Figure 3 shows in exploded isometric view, the principle of assembly and superposition of the elements of the bed in the sleeping position. The structure (1) with articulated blades, in particular in the roller shutter deck, is placed horizontally with the closing straps (4) visible at the level of the handles (5). On the almost interior length of three blades of the structure, are glued fixing tapes (7), said positive, separated by an equal distance and corresponding to the width of a box-spring (2). The box spring (2) is made up of three identical panels. Each panel-base (2) comprises a longitudinal tab (9) on which is sewn a fixing tape (8), said negative, which will adhere to the fixing tape (7), said positive, of the structure (1) by complementarity of forms. The mattress (3), thick

  lower than the bed base (2), is placed above the bed base panels (2).

  Figure 4 shows in isometric view, the open bed in its sleeping position.

  The structure (1) with articulated blades, in particular as a roller shutter curtain, is placed horizontally with the closing straps (4) visible at the level of the handles (5). The box spring

  (2) is composed of three identical panels fixed, by fixing tapes, on the structure (1).

  The mattress (3) is placed on all three base panels (2). The signs-

  box spring (2) and mattress (3) have exactly the same overall dimensions while the

  dimensions of the structure (1) are greater in length and in width.

  Figure 5 shows in exploded side elevation view, the principle of assembly and superposition of the elements of the bed for sleeping. The structure (1) with articulated blades, in particular as a roller shutter curtain, is placed horizontally with the closing straps (4) visible at the level of the handles (5). On the almost internal length of three blades of the structure, are glued fixing tapes (7), said positive, separated by an equal distance and corresponding to the width of a panel panel (2). The box spring (2) is made up of three identical panels. Each panel-base (2) comprises a longitudinal tab (9) on which is sewn a fixing tape (8), said negative, which will adhere to the fixing tape (7), said positive, of the structure (1) by complementarity of forms. The mattress (3), thick

  lower than the bed base (2), is placed above the bed base panels (2).

  Figure 6 shows in side elevation view, the open bed in its sleeping position. The structure (1) with articulated blades, in particular as a roller shutter curtain, is placed horizontally with the closing straps (4) visible at the level of the handles (5). The box spring (2) is composed of three identical panels fixed by fixing tapes on the structure (1). The mattress (3), of thickness less than the bed base (2), is placed on all three bed base panels (2). The box spring (2) and the mattress (3) have exactly the same

  overall width while that of the structure is greater.

  By way of nonlimiting example, the double bed can have a sleeping surface of 195 cm x 120 cm. The structure (1) may be 5 cm longer in length than the sleeping length, and about 15 cm longer in width than the sleeping width. In its vertical storage position, the bed occupies a reduced space in the form of a compact column having a height of 200 cm, a width of about 48 cm and a depth of about 22 cm. The self-stability of the bed in its rolled storage position on the end caps makes it an object that can be left as is in a room and serve as a vertical support for others

  objects, such as a lamp.

Claims (7)

  1 - Foldable bed intended to be stored vertically with a reduced size of the type comprising a box spring (2) and a foldable mattress (3), characterized in that it further comprises, a structure (1) made up of a plurality of 'elongated elements connected laterally with respect to each other with the possibility of angular displacement ensuring the horizontal support in the sleeping position and playing the role of vertical envelope by winding in the storage position, and fastening means (4) and closing the bed in storage position.   2 - Bed according to claim 1 characterized in that the structure (1) of horizontal support in the sleeping position and vertical wrapping in the storage position consists of blades articulated along their length provided with relative holding means in the direction of the length of said blades and the length of the blades corresponds to the length   of the bed and the storage height.   1 5 3 - Bed according to claim 2 characterized in that the structure (1) of horizontal support and vertical wrapping is formed from a roller shutter deck comprising full blades provided with plastic end caps, arranged astride on the ends of two contiguous blades and offset from the opposite ends, intended to prevent slipping of the blades relative to each other and to ensure, the protection of the ends, and also the contact surface with the ground in storage position.   4 - Bed according to claim 1 characterized in that the bed base (2) is broken down into at least two identical, flexible and removable panels intended to be superimposed in   storage position and whose lengths correspond to the length of the bed.   5 - Bed according to claim 4 characterized in that each panneausommier (2) is provided with fixing means (8) intended to cooperate with complementary fixing elements (7) disposed on the areas located opposite the structure (1) in deployed position.   6 - Bed according to claim 5 characterized in that the fixing means (8) are   made up of elements with complementary shapes such as, for example, buttons   pressure, self-adhesive strips.   7 - Bed according to claim 5 or 6 characterized in that the fixing means are arranged at each part of the base (2) on a longitudinal and lower outer leg (9) intended to be positioned in the sleeping position under the side opposite of the adjacent part of the box spring (2).   8 - Bed according to claims 1 and 4 characterized in that the mattress (3) is a   single and flexible panel, of a thickness less than the bed base (2), intended to surround the superimposed panels of the bed base (2) during storage and comprising on one of its faces bands (6) or straps for holding in position around the bed base panels (2) superimposed. 9 - Bed according to claim 1 characterized in that the fastening means (4) for the storage position consist of straps fixed, for example on the inner face of at least one end blade of the structure (1 ), by sewing or riveting.   - Bed according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that it   further comprises handles (5) fixed on the outer face of an end blade of the structure (1) for example by overlapping the fastening means (4), by sewing or by   riveting to ensure handling of the bed when it is closed.
