Abstract

The box comprises a pre-cut sheet (1) having folding lines (2) defining a bottom (3), sides (4) and reinforcements (5) for the corners between adjacent sides. It also includes originally covering portions (6) for the reinforcements so as to avoid moisture penetration and to reinforce the corners joined to the pre-cut sheet by second folding lines (7).

Description

The object of the present invention is a pre-cut cardboard box designed to transport and store, in particular, plant products.

Pre-cut cardboard boxes are widely used in the storage of products such as fruit and vegetables and effectively replace more conventional wooden cases, especially during the product distribution phase during which the lightness and ease of disposal of the cardboard versus wood is of particular importance.

The generally used material is corrugated cardboard, which gives the box great resistance when stacking several boxes.

The pre-cut cardboard sheet has fold lines that define the bottom and sides of the box. The folded sides are then fixed by gluing.

Reinforcements consisting substantially of an additional folding of the bonding surface between two adjacent panels are provided to increase the strength of the box.

The angel of the box is therefore reinforced and may have a tooth allowing the boxes to be stacked correctly, because it fits into an eyelet obtained in the bottom of the box immediately above it.

The presence of reinforcements for the angles creates, near the angles of the box, a kind of parallelepiped with a triangular base and open in its upper part, which represents the support element between different stacked boxes.

Being open in its upper part, the angle of the box does not hinder the penetration of moisture, which reduces the resistance of the reinforcement and can compromise the good stacking of the boxes and the quality of the packaged products.

The purpose of the present invention is to eliminate these drawbacks by providing a pre-cut cardboard box provided with coating portions of the reinforcements preventing moisture from penetrating, by improving the resistance of the reinforcement on the one hand, because a possible element weakening is eliminated and secondly, because the structure is subsequently hardened. Such a box can be obtained without complicating the structure or the production phases of the cardboard sheet or of the box as a finished product.

These objectives are fully achieved by the pre-cut cardboard box designed in particular for transporting and storing plant products and being the subject of the present invention, which is characterized by the criteria appearing in the claims below and in particular by the fact that the pre-cut sheet constituting the box includes reinforcing coating portions to prevent the penetration of moisture and to reinforce the angles, connected to the pre-cut sheet by the fold lines.

With regard to the figures, the number 1 indicates a sheet of pre-cut cardboard with corrugated core, intended to create a box for the transport and storage of plant products in particular.

The precut sheet 1 comprises first fold lines 2 which delimit, in the precut sheet, several portions constituting the box, namely a rectangular bottom 3, a pan 4 for each side of the bottom 3 and a reinforcement 5 for each angle between the adjacent sides.

The bottom 2 may have openings 12 of variable shape, size and arrangement on the surface of the bottom in question. It can also have a first eyelet 9 for each angle of the bottom 3.

Panni the first fold lines 2, the number 2a indicates the fold lines delimiting the bottom 3 relative to the sides 4 and therefore coinciding with the sides of the bottom.

According to the possible embodiment illustrated, the panels 4 comprise two portions, respectively 4a and 4b, delimited by a third fold line

Among the first fold lines 2, the number 2b indicates the fold lines delimiting one side of a section from which one of the reinforcements develops. In particular, the reinforcements 5 are located, preferably in pairs, in two sides disposed on opposite sides of the bottom 3. Other forms of arrangement of the reinforcements 5 are however possible.

According to the possible embodiment illustrated, the reinforcement 5 comprises three portions Sa, 5b and 5c; the portion 5a represents a bonding surface between two adjacent sides, the portion 5b creates, by means of the bonding portion 5c, a sort of parallelepiped with a triangular base, which represents the support element between stacked boxes.

The reinforcement 5, and in particular the portion Sb, may include a tooth 8 for the correct stacking of the boxes, intended to be introduced into the first eyelets 9 with which the bottom 3 of the box is provided immediately above.

The precut sheet 1 originally comprises coating portions 6 of the reinforcements 5, connected to the precut sheet 1 by second fold lines 7.

The coating portions 6 are in particular connected to the panels 4; in the example illustrated, they are located two by two on the same panel comprising the reinforcements 5, but other arrangements which are not illustrated are obviously possible.

The coating portions may have second eyelets 10 for the introduction of the teeth 8. They also have a bonding surface 11 for attachment to the reinforcement 5.

The process of making the box from the pre-cut cardboard sheet provides for folding the sheet along the fold lines 2a so as to bring the flaps 4 in a position perpendicular to the bottom 3. The flaps are fixed by folding and gluing the portion 5a of the reinforcement 5, which is in turn completed by gluing the portion 5c.

In the presence of the panels 4 formed by the two portions 4a and 4b, the two portions in question must be folded along the third fold line 13 and glued.

The coating portions 6 are folded relative to the sides 4 and the reinforcements 5, along the second fold lines 7, and the bonding surface ll is glued to the reinforcements 5. The presence of the second eyelet 10 allows the passage of the tooth 8.

An even more reinforced and rigid box is thus obtained in which the volumes created by the reinforcements 5 are closed by the coating portions 6 to avoid any infiltration of moisture liable to reduce the resistance of the box or the quality of the product packed therein.

 CLAIMS 1. Pre-cut cardboard box specially designed for the transport and storage of plant products comprising a pre-cut sheet (t) on which there are first fold lines (2) defining a bottom (3), sections (4) and reinforcements (5) for the angles between two adjacent sides, characterized in that the precut sheet (l) comprises coating portions (6) of the reinforcements (5) to prevent any penetration of moisture and to reinforce the angles, connected to the pre-cut sheet (l) by second fold lines (7). 2. Box according to claim 1), of the type comprising the reinforcements (5) provided in their upper part with a tooth (8) and the bottom provided with first eyelets (9) near the corners, for the correct stacking of boxes, characterized in that the coating portions comprise second eyelets (l 0) for the introduction of the teeth (8). 3. Box according to claim 1), characterized in that the coating portion (6) comprises a bonding surface (11) for fixing to the reinforcement (5).
