  The invention relates to the technical sector of means for measuring and controlling linear dimensions. Means for monitoring the wear of vehicle tires are known in the form of wear indicators integrated in the manufacture of the tire, which when they come into flush with the outer face

  According to the invention, we wanted to make available to motorists a simplified, therefore economical, space-saving, easy-to-use accessory, periodically allowing instantaneous indication of the degree of wear of the tire, which corresponds perfectly to the current safety concerns of motorists and helps avoid costly tickets as well as

  accidents due to poor condition of tires.

  For this and according to a first characteristic, the accessory according to the invention consists of a support part on the periphery of the tire and a part mounted to slide in the support part, and the lower end of which is shaped to penetrate to the bottom of the tire tread and in that a locating means on said sliding part cooperates with an instant visual reading means

established on the support part.

  To simplify instant visual reading, the means established on the support part is of the type comprising several delimited zones and

  differentiated corresponding to various degrees of wear of the sculptures.

  Advantageously, these zones are three in number and differentiated by colors, namely: green to indicate the good condition of the tire, orange to indicate the average condition and the risk of aquaplaning of the tire, and red for indicate a certain danger and wear

complete tire.

  The simplified accessory according to the invention is composed of a part (1) in the form of a parallelipiped strip, one of the faces (la) of which has a profiled groove (lb) opening out at the two ends to receive and guide a sliding part (2) or probe comprising

  for this purpose in a large central area a slide (2a) shaped to cooperate with the groove (lb), while its thinned lower end has a finger (2b) intended to penetrate into the sculpture (S) of the

  tire (P) and to make contact with the bottom (S 1) of said sculpture.

  At its upper part, the feeler has an enlarged form (2c) for gripping. In a particularly targeted way, the accessory is arranged with

  a means of instant visual control of the wear of the tire.

  For this, there are provided on one side of the groove several delimited zones (Z1, Z2, Z3, ...) corresponding to different degrees of wear of the tire. In a nonlimiting manner, three different zones 1 5 have been distinguished, identified either by numbers or letters, or by different colors, namely: a green zone (Z1) indicating a very good condition of the tire and corresponding to a depth (P1) of sculpture; an orange zone (Z2) indicating a medium state with risk of aquaplaning of the tire and corresponding to a tread depth (P2), and a red zone (Z3) indicating the bad state with certain danger,

  pneumatic and corresponding to a tread depth (P3).

  It is understood, with reference to FIGS. 2, 3, 4, and 5, of the drawings which it suffices to apply, by its lower bearing face (lc), the strip (1) on the tire, at the level of a cavity of the sculpture, and slide the part (2) until contact with the end of the finger (2b) with the bottom (Si) of the sculpture and thus verify in which zone (Z1, Z2, or Z3) is a

  index (2d) formed on the part (2).

  Of course, in addition to the differentiated zones, provision can also be made to write on the face (la) a legend corresponding to the

three zones.

  Likewise, this face (la) as well as the grip end (2c) of the

  feeler can receive information or advertising registrations.

  It is also possible to envisage associating the gripping end (2c) with a

  keychain, so you have it handy for control.

  The advantages clearly emerge from the description, the

  simplification of the accessory, the instantaneous visual reading of the wear of the tire making it possible to check periodically and easily and

the condition of the tires.

Claims (7)

  -1 - Accessory for checking the wear of vehicle tires, characterized in that it consists of a part (1) bearing on the periphery of the tire (P) and a part (2) mounted sliding in the bearing part, and the lower end (2b) of which is shaped to penetrate to the bottom (SI) of the tread (S) of the tire, and in that a locating means on said sliding part cooperates with a means of   instant visual reading established on the support part.   -2- Accessory according to claim 1, characterized in that the means established on the part (1) of support is of the type comprising several delimited and differentiated zones corresponding to various degrees of wear of tire sculptures.   -3- Accessory according to claim 2, characterized in that the delimited and differentiated areas are three in number (Z 1, Z2, Z3) corresponding successively to a very good condition or good condition of the sculptures, to a medium condition with risk of aquaplaning, and in a very bad state with certain danger.   -4- Accessory according to claim 3, characterized in that the three zones (Z 1, Z2, Z3) are differentiated by colors, namely: green for the   zone (Zl1), orange for zone (Z2) and red for zone (Z3).   -5- Accessory according to claim 3, characterized in that the three zones   (Z 1, Z2, Z3) are differentiated by numbers or letters. 6 2791426   -6- Accessory according to any one of claims 1 to 5, characterized   in that the locating and reading means established on the sliding part (2) is an index (2d) situated opposite the zones (Z1, Z2, Z3) themselves established along a profiled groove (lb) of the part (lb) in which   slides the part (2) of corresponding profile.   -7- Accessory according to claim 1, characterized in that, in addition to the instant visual reading means, the face (la) of the part (1) having said reading means, receives anyway   known to informative or advertising inscriptions.
