Abstract

DESCRIPTION

  The present invention relates to an apparatus which treats certain orthopedic problems of the spine, thorax and upper limbs

  can be used for fitness or rehabilitation.

  These treatments are traditionally performed manually by the therapist which does not allow a perfect quality of treatment and what is

  also tiring for the therapist.

  The apparatus according to the invention comprises a seat part (1) on which the user sits which is provided in its rear part with a backrest (2) of limited height surmounted by a central vertical bar (3) of limited width

  against which the user comes to apply the rear face of his trunk.

  The apparatus is provided with two movable lateral parts, (4) and (5), articulated at the two ends of a device of horizontal tubes consisting of an anteroposterior horizontal tube (6) fixed to the upper end of the central vertical bar (3)

  and a transverse horizontal tube (7) fixed to the end of the antero-horizontal tube

  posterior (6). The user takes hold of the two movable lateral parts (4) and (5) at

the help of his upper limbs.

  The position of the movable side parts (4) and (5) is adjustable thanks to a system of straps (8) and (9) of adjustable length and of loops (10) and (11) connecting the movable side parts (4) and (5) to the central vertical bar (3). This latter device of straps (8) and (9) makes it possible to position the recoil of the

  shoulder blades and upper limbs of the user.

  detailed description which follows, with reference to the appended schematic drawings showing, by way of nonlimiting examples, preferred embodiments of the apparatus

it concerns.

  The seat part (1) on which the user sits is constituted in the example chosen by a tubular steel structure of generally quadrilateral shape. This does not exclude any other type of structure which may constitute a seat plan. This seat structure (1) consists of four vertical tubes (12) connected by transverse tubes (13), (14), (15) and (16) at the bottom and tubes

  transverse (17), (18), (19), (20) at the top.

  In the example chosen, the dimensions of the tubes are 40 millimeters over

  40 millimeters, which does not exclude any other type of dimensions.

  On this quadrilateral tubular form is fixed a support (21), made of wood in the example chosen, by means of screws located in the support structure (21), which pass through the transverse tubes of the seat (1) at the top (17), (18), (19), (20) in holes provided for this purpose, and are bolted to the part

  lower tubes (17), (18), (19), (20).

  This support (21) is padded with a foam lined with skai on which the user sits. This support (21) in the example chosen has dimensions of centimeters deep by 32 centimeters wide. That doesn't rule out everything

other type of dimensions.

  According to one embodiment, the upper plane of the seat (1) can advantageously be inclined slightly downwards and backwards as in the drawing in FIGS. 12 and 13, which automatically results in better positioning of the spine, and in particular of the lumbar part of the user. This can be done using a triangular piece (22) with an inclined cut towards

  the rear achievable in wood for example.

  On the two rear transverse tubes (16) and (20) are fixed, most easily welded, three portions of tubes (23), (24) and (25) respectively on the rear transverse tube (16) at the bottom, three portions of tubes (26), (27) and (28) on the rear transverse tube (20) at the top. These tube portions (23), (24), (25), (26), (27) and (28) are of dimensions slightly greater than the dimensions of the central vertical bar (3) and the lateral vertical bars (38). , structures described below, which allows these three vertical bars (3) and (38) to -3-

  slide in said portions of tubes (23), (24) and (25) and (26), (27) and (28).

  The two most extreme tube portions (23) and (25) and (26) and (28) are fixed to the rear transverse tubes (16) and (20) without encroaching on the

vertical tubes (12) of the seat (1).

  On the upper transverse tube (20), the upper and lower parts of the

  portions of tubes (26) (27) and (28) are free.

  At the tube portions (23), (24) and (25) fixed on the lower transverse tube (16) only the upper part is free, the lower part is

  closed by a horizontal plane structure most easily welded.

  On this tubular structure constituting the seat (1) can be fixed, screwed for example wooden walls for example which transform the seat part (1)

in a case.

  According to one embodiment, the upper plane can in the latter case be articulated by a hinge located at the rear of the seat (1) but in front of the backrest (2), enough to allow the upper plane to be raised and thus allows to access the interior of the body. This device can be used to position loads inside the box, which increases the stability of the device. One can for example place six weights of five kg, that is to say thirty kilograms. When moving the device, these weights can be removed, which makes it easier to move. Above this compartment can be placed a

  board which is placed on cleats placed inside the seat box. At-

  above this board, the remaining space can be used advantageously

as storage space.

  The height of the seat (1) in the example chosen is 45 centimeters, which

does not exclude any other dimension.

  At the rear of the seat (1) can be attached a rear device (29) which aims to improve the stability of the device. This rear device (29) consists of two horizontal tubes (30) and (31) connected to two vertical tubes (32) and (33) interconnected by two horizontal transverse tubes (34) and (35). The two horizontal tubes (30) and (31) are of dimensions smaller than the tubes of the seat (1), which allows the said tubes (30) and (31) to fit and slide in the tubes (17) and (19) constituting the seat (1) and then easily fix them by two screws (36) piercing jointly and respectively the two tubes (19) and (31) and

  (30) and (17) in holes provided for this purpose.

  We can then as at the seat part (1) cover this part with a padded surface. We can also transform using lateral vertical planes and a lower plane screwed on the tubes (30), (31), (32), (33), (34), and (35) -4-

this volume in one case.

  At the rear of the tubular structure constituted by the seat (1) is fixed a backrest (2)

  on which the user places the rear face of his trunk.

  This folder (2) is covered with foam and leatherette so that contact with the posterior surface of the user's trunk is not painful. In the example chosen, the solution adopted is that the foam covered with skai is fixed on a support, in wood for example, itself fixed on two lateral vertical bars (38) and on the central vertical bar (3) which fix on the seat passing through the two series of three portions of tubes (26), (27) and (28) and (23), (24), (25)

  placed at the rear of the seat (1).

  In the upper tube portions (26) (27) and (28) orifices are provided and a screw (70) possibly provided with a butterfly makes it possible to fix the

  vertical bars (38) and (3) using holes provided for this purpose.

  The descent of the three vertical bars (38) and (3) is blocked by the plane

  lower portions of tubes (23), (24) and (25) lower.

  This file (2) is of limited height. The dimensions of this file (2) can for example be 30 centimeters high by 30 centimeters

  width which does not exclude any other dimensions.

  The two vertical side bars (38) do not extend beyond the back part

  (2) upwards, stopping at the upper edge of the said backrest (2).

  The central vertical bar (3) continues above the backrest (2). This central vertical bar (3) is padded only above the backrest (2) so that contact with the user's spine is not painful. This vertical bar (3) is of reduced width (from two to ten centimeters approximately), so that contact with the posterior part of the trunk of the user is reduced and thus allows the recoil of the shoulder blades and upper limbs of the user . According to an embodiment shown in Figures 12 and 13, the backrest (2) may be absent, the central vertical bar (3) is then padded over the entire length located above the seat (1), the central vertical bar (3) is then in the latter case covered with skai and foam over its entire length. The central vertical bar (3) is then padded over its entire length. The length of this central vertical bar (3) allows it in the latter case to come into contact with the entire spine and the posterior part of the user's head, i.e. in the example described, one meter and 30 -5-

  centimeters, which does not exclude any other different length.

  In the example chosen, the solution adopted is that the foam covered with skai is fixed on a support, in wood for example, itself fixed on the central vertical bar (3) by a screwing and bolting system for example, which does not exclude any other type of fixing. At the rear and / or on the sides of this central vertical bar (3) are fixed, most easily welded one or more tabs (40), (41). On the upper legs (40) are fixed the straps (8) and (9) of the positioning system of the movable side parts (4) and (5). In the example chosen, these legs (40) are complete in the shape of a U (40), that is to say that their two ends are welded to the central vertical bar (3), or incomplete in the shape of L ( 41), i.e. one of

their ends are free.

  These legs (40) and (41) can be fixed at any location all along this central vertical bar (3) above the backrest (2). These legs (40) and (41) are about 10 centimeters wide, which does not exclude any other type of dimensions. Straps already known elsewhere that go around the user's trunk can be used and ensure the support of his spine against the bar

  vertical center (3) by fixing on the loops (41).

  These legs (40) and (41) are most often fixed two by two, to the same

  height, respectively on the right and on the left.

  These tabs (40) and (41) can be of variable dimensions.

  Another device can consist of two vertical bars placed respectively on the right (42) and on the left (43) connected at their ends to the central vertical bar (3). Crossbars (44) then connect these two vertical bars (42) and (43) to the central vertical bar (3) which makes it possible to solidify the entire device and to prevent the straps described below from slipping

upwards or downwards.

  These vertical bars (42) and (43) can be located at different distances from the central vertical bar (3), as can be seen in Figures 4 and 5, so that the installation of the straps is facilitated. On these vertical bars (42) and

  (43) can then attach the tabs (40) and (41) already described.

  This central vertical bar (3) can be used alone as in the example described in Figures 12 and 13 or a device described below of horizontal bars (6) and (7) can be attached to the upper end of said bar

vertical center (3).

  In the latter case, at the upper end of the central vertical bar -6 - (3) a horizontal anteroposterior bar (6) is fixed at right angles. In the example chosen, this anteroposterior horizontal bar (6) measures approximately 17

  centimeters in length. This does not exclude different lengths.

  This anteroposterior horizontal bar (6) is welded to the central vertical bar (3).

  The size of the tube used for this antero-horizontal bar

  posterior (6) is 35 millimeters by 35 millimeters, this does not exclude

different tube dimensions.

  At the end of the anteroposterior horizontal bar (6) is fixed, most often a transverse horizontal bar (7) is welded to the ends of

  which articulates the movable side parts (4) and (5).

  The articulation between the movable lateral parts (4) and (5) and the transverse horizontal bar (7) is given as an example. This does not exclude any other

type of joint.

  At each end of the upper part of the transverse horizontal bar (7) is welded a threaded circular stud (45) on which the corresponding movable lateral part (4) or (5) fits which has one of its internal ends a non-threaded circular orifice (46) with a diameter greater than

  that of the threaded stud (45) allowing it to adapt to the threaded stud (45).

  In the example given, the pegs (45) are located four centimeters from

  each end of the transverse horizontal bar (7).

  In the example chosen, the length of the pitons (45) is six centimeters in length and the diameter of the pitons (45) is 13 millimeters, which does not exclude

any other type of dimensions.

  This device allows the movable side parts (4) and (5) to perform

rotational movements.

  On the horizontal transverse bar (7), around the pins (45) below the movable lateral parts (4) and (5), markers can be inscribed which makes it possible to easily locate the position of the movable lateral parts (4) and (5) and thus easily measure the progression of the amplitude of the members

user superiors.

  As these pegs (45) are threaded, this makes it possible, using a suitable nut (47) placed above each movable lateral part (4) and (5), to prevent one of the movable side part (4) and (5) corresponding during improper use or blocking, by screwing, the side part

  Each lateral part (4) and (5) has an upper horizontal bar (50) pierced with a non-threaded circular orifice (46), which allows said lateral part (4) and (5) to be embedded in the piton (45) of the transverse horizontal bar (7). In one of the possible embodiments, this upper horizontal bar (50) measures 35 centimeters in length, which does not exclude any other type of

dimensions.

  This upper horizontal bar (50) follows a form structure

  variable, form which is in particular function of the size of the user.

  The upper limbs of the user are supported at the rear of the movable side parts (4) and (5). These movable side parts (4) and (5) thus ensure by their support on the upper limbs of the user the retreat of his upper limbs. This recoil is ensured by the variation in the length of the straps (8) and (9) of the tensioning system connecting the tabs (52) of the movable side parts (4) and (5) and the tabs (40) of the central vertical bar (3) go

  In the example proposed, there is a strap (8) and (9) for each movable lateral part (4) and (5), which makes it possible to position the two movable lateral parts (4) and (5) independently. according to the needs of each

upper limb of the user.

  The variation in length of these straps (8) and (9) can also

be done in a variety of ways.

  According to one of the possible embodiments of the invention, the tensioning of the movable lateral parts (4) and (5) can be ensured by a system of straps

  connected to weights, which can then use pulleys fixed on the legs (41).

  In this case, it is possible to interpose a stopper before a tab (41) which makes it possible to stop the recoil of the mobile parts (4) and (5) in a position -8-

desired by the user.

  The straps (8) and (9) can also be placed in other arrangements and pass through all the fixing lugs (41) located along the

rear vertical bar.

  According to a possible embodiment of the invention, these straps (8) and (9)

  can be elastic, which facilitates user installation.

  On these straps (8) and (9) one can install dynamometers which

  used to assess the tension of said straps (8) and (9).

  The adjustment of the movable side parts (4) and (5) can be carried out by the user before settling in or by an external operator once

the user is installed.

  The shape of the part in contact with the upper limbs of the user is variable, in particular according to the size of the user, his articular possibilities and the structure which it is desired to stretch. As it is easy to disassemble and reassemble the movable side parts (4) and (5) shown in FIG. 7 or the movable side parts (66) and (67) shown in FIGS. 8 and 9, it is easy to adapt the device to the user by choosing the part

desired lateral movement.

  In one of the possible embodiments, a vertical bar (51) is welded to the horizontal bar (50). In the example given, the length of this vertical bar (51) is 40 centimeters, which does not exclude any other type of dimension. In the upper part of the vertical bar (51) and in its rear part is fixed a tab (52) in the form of U on which the strap system (8) and (9) is fixed. In the example described, these tabs (52) are welded. These legs (52)

  can be located in various places on the movable side parts (4) and (5).

  In the example described, these legs (52) are fixed at the posterior level in the

  upper part of the movable side parts (4) and (5).

  On this vertical bar (51) are fixed, most often welded, tubes forming handles (53) formed of tubes with a diameter of 35 millimeters, which does not exclude any other type of dimensions. The length of the handles (53) is

  centimeters, which does not exclude any other type of dimensions.

  We give some other examples of possible embodiments of the movable side parts, but this does not exclude other forms. The shape can thus also be roughly rectangular as in FIGS. 8 and 9. This structure can be solid such as the structure 67 and have a few holes for fixing the hands. The shape of these structures (66) and (67) can also be hollowed out at its lower part which allows easier installation for the user. The lateral part can also have a very large lateral dimension.
