Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an apparatus for climbing a pole, a tree or the like.
Apparatuses are known which make it possible to climb along a tree or a post and which comprise a first element formed by a platform on which the user places his feet, the latter comprising a bearing surface intended to cooperate with an edge of the post and a support surface offset in height relative to the support surface and intended to cooperate with an edge of the post offset by 1800 relative to the edge against which said support surface carries. The device is completed with a second element comprising a support and counter-support surface supported by a frame provided with a seat. The user, after having placed the device against the pole to be climbed, passes through the frame and places the feet on the platform, while with the hands he lifts the second element then sits on the seat, while with the feet he lifts the first element, the latter comprising for this purpose a rod located above above the platform and under which the tiptoes can be inserted.
Une telle disposition est notamment décrite dans les brevets US 4.137.995, 4.452.338, 3.960.240 et 4. Such an arrangement is described in particular in US patents 4,137,995, 4,452,338, 3,960,240 and 4.
321.983.321,983.
As the section of the trees or posts to be climbed may be different, means are generally provided for adjusting the interval between the bearing surface and the corresponding counter-bearing surface, however the section of a post or a tree can decrease as it rises so that the elements become inclined which is uncomfortable and dangerous and the means provided for modifying the interval between the bearing and counter-bearing surfaces cannot be adjusted during the safe ascent.
The invention relates to an apparatus making it possible to remedy these drawbacks.
The apparatus according to the invention is of the type comprising two elements, the first element comprising a platform with a support surface at one end, said platform being integral with two tubular elements located in the same plane intersecting by relative to the plane of the platform and supporting a counter-support bar capable of being released to allow the installation on the post to be climbed, said platform comprising a rod under which the toes of a user can be inserted to allow the first element to be lifted when climbing, while the second element comprises a frame, with a seat at one end and a bearing surface at the other end, said frame being integral with two elements tubulars located in the same plane intersecting with respect to the plane of the frame and supporting a counter-support bar capable of being released to allow the installation on the post to be climbed, of the means being provided to make it possible to adjust the interval between the bearing surfaces of the two elements and the corresponding counter-support bars, and is characterized in that the counter-support bars are carried by bars mounted to slide in the elements corresponding tubulars and returned to a position tending to bring them closer to the corresponding bearing surfaces by elastic ties, each tubular element comprising a lock for blocking the corresponding bar, the latches of the first element being arranged so as to release the bars by means of pressure and being connected to each other by the rod. Thus, thanks to the invention, it is very easy during the ascent to adjust the position of the counter-support bars.

The tubular elements 8 and 9 are arranged in the same plane intersecting with respect to the plane of the frame 3, the assembly being reinforced by lugs 10.
In the tubular elements 8 and 9, bars 11 and 12 are slidably mounted respectively, the free ends of which are connected by a support bar 13.
The bar 13, on its side facing the bearing surface 5 is coated with a non-slip surface 17.
The bar 13 is mounted articulated on an axis 18 provided at one free end of the bar 11, while at its other end it comprises a finger 20 mounted slidingly in a sleeve 21, a tension spring 22, being by a end, fixed to the sleeve 21 and by the other end fixed to the finger 20.
The finger 20 is intended to pass through a hole 24 in the bar in order to ensure the locking of the bar 13 on the corresponding end of the bar 12 (see FIG. 4).
The bar 12 is hollow and has in the vicinity of its end adjacent to the bar 13 an axis 26 (see Figure 3) on which is hung one end of an elastic link 27 whose other end is fixed to an axis 28 integral with the tubular element 8 and which also forms a stop for the bar 12.
I1 is provided a lock 30 for blocking the bar 12 and which comprises (see FIGS. 2 and 3) a stirrup 31 with two arms 32 slidingly mounted in a housing 33 integral with the tubular element 8 and each comprising an elbow extension 35 terminated by a finger 36 passing through a hole 37 of said tubular element 12 and, selectively holes 38 of the bar 12. The branches 32 have a stop 39 and a compression spring 34 is inserted between said stop and a wall of the housing 33 so as to tension to bring the lock into the locked position.
The tubular element 9 comprises a latch 30 identical to the latch provided on the tubular element 8 and the bar 11 slides in said tubular element 9 against the action of an elastic link 27.
The two stirrups 31 of the latches 30 are connected by a rod 41 of square section engaged in sleeves 42 integral with said stirrups, a needle screw 43 being provided for blocking said rod 41.
The rod 41 allows the user, on the one hand, to raise the element 1 during the ascent by passing his feet under said rod and, on the other hand, to allow, by pressing with a foot on said rod, to unlock the bars 11 and 12, these being able to slide with the action of elastic links so that the spacing between the support surface 5 and the counter-support bar 13 corresponds to the section of the tree or pole to climb.
The element 2 is formed of a frame 50, one end of which comprises a seat 51 and the opposite end a bearing surface 52 with non-slip pads 53. Two tubular elements 55 are welded along the two longitudinal sides of the frame 50 and 56, the assembly being reinforced by lugs 57.
The tubular element 55 includes a lock 30 intended to block a bar 58 slidingly mounted against the action of an elastic link 27.
In the tubular element 56 is slidably mounted against the action of an elastic link 27 a bar 59, a lock 30 being provided on said tubular element 56.
Les éléments tubulaires 55 et 56 comportent des poignées 54.The tubular elements 55 and 56 have handles 54.
The ends of the bars 58 and 59 are connected by a counter-support bar 60 coated with a non-slip thickness 61 and pivotally mounted by one end on an axis 62, while the other end is removably attached to the end of the bar 58 by a finger 20 (see Figure 4).
Elements 1 and 2 are connected by two links 63.
To use the device, proceed as follows
We open the bars 13 and 60, we put the elements 1 and 2 against the post or the tree along which a worker must climb, we adjust the length of the bars 11, 12 - 58, 59 by pulling on them after having cleared the latches 30 and the bars 13 and 60 are closed against the post or the tree.
The user climbs on the platform 4 after passing through the frame 50. With his hands, he holds the tubular elements 55 and 56 by the handles 54 and lifts the element 2, then he sits on the seat 51 and with tiptoe passed under the rod 41, it raises the element 1 and thus repeats the operation until it has reached the desired height.
If the section of the tree or pole decreases as you climb, the elements may be tilted too much. To avoid this drawback, it suffices to adjust the spacing between the bearing surfaces and the counter-bearing bars, which is very easy, since it suffices to press the latches 30 to release the bars 11, 12, 58 and 59 which then tend to engage in the corresponding tubular elements under the action of the elastic links 27.
The operation of the latches 30 of the element 1 is facilitated by the bar 41 since it suffices to press it with the foot to release the said latches 30.
The device offers great security since as soon as the pressure on the latches 30 is released, they immediately tend under the action of the springs 34 to block the bars.
Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiment which has just been described and shown. Many detailed modifications can be made without departing from the scope of the invention.
