Abstract

The package consists of a plastic container (1) to receive the trays (3). A recessed lid (2) fits into the trays. Both container and lid have projecting rims (14, 10) which are joined together by welding. Either container or lid or both are transparent. The package is opened by cutting through the welded portions to separate the lid from the container. After a tray has been removed the lid can be replaced to keep any other trays in the container clean.

Description

Tray packaging
The present invention relates to packaging for trays.

 The invention relates to a packaging intended to contain a number of trays which are stacked nested one inside the other.

 In many stores and in particular in supermarkets, trays are sold, generally in the shape of a pyramid trunk and which are stacked and nested one inside the other. These trays, which are generally stamped in aluminum foil, are housed in a transparent, generally parallelepipedic packaging.

 When using one of these trays, the packaging must be destroyed so that, if all the trays are not used simultaneously, the remaining trays may become soiled.

 Another drawback is that these trays thus packaged are relatively bulky and that they occupy an important place both for storage and for presentation on the shelves.

 The object of the present invention is, in particular, to remedy these various drawbacks.

 The invention relates to a packaging for trays capable of being stacked nested one inside the other and which is characterized in that it comprises a first plastic element in the form of a bowl with a bottom and a side wall ending in a rim and intended to contain a number of trays stacked and nested one inside the other and a second element made of plastic material also affecting a bowl shape with a bottom and a side wall, and having dimensions corresponding to the interior of the tray above, in order to be inserted therein, the side wall being extended by a rim, the rims of the first and of the second element being fixed by welding points.

 Thanks to such an arrangement, the packages containing the trays can be stacked nested which reduces the space requirement and the second element can be separated from the first element to take a tray, during use and then put back in place to protect the others until they are used.

 In addition, being made up of a single element, the packaging according to the invention is perfectly recyclable.

 Preferably, at least one of the elements is transparent.

 Figure 2 is a sectional view on a larger scale showing a detail of the packaging.

 The packaging shown in the figures comprises a first element 1 and a second element 2 made of plastic.

 The reference 3 designates trays made, generally, of stamped aluminum, each tray having a bottom 3a, a side wall 3b, a rim 3c terminated by a rolled part 3d.

 These trays are generally shaped in order to affect the shape of a trunk of a pyramid so that they can be stacked engaged one in the other.

 The first element 1 has a bowl-shaped part 6 with a bottom 7 and is intended to receive a stack of trays 3 stacked and engaged one in the other, this part 6 comprising a peripheral shoulder 7 extended by a side wall 8 of which the height corresponds to the height of the rims 3c of a certain number of trays stacked and engaged one in the other, said side wall 8 being terminated by a rim 14.

 The second element 2 has the shape of a bowl with a bottom 9, a side wall 12 whose free edge is extended by a rim 10 substantially parallel to the bottom 9.

 The second element 2 has a dimension such that it can be inserted in the tray above, its side wall 12 extending over a height such that it slightly exceeds the 3d rolled part of the tray 3 above, while the rim 10 has a width sufficient to cooperate with the rim 14 of the side wall 8 of the element 1.

 The flanges 10 and 14 are assembled by one or more welding points 11. The two elements 1 and 2 can be transparent.

 Sets of trays housed in said packaging can be stacked which reduces the size of the storage.

 In addition, during use, it is sufficient, after cutting the soldering points 11, to remove the element 2 to remove a tray 3, said element 2 then being put back in place which makes it possible to protect the other trays and keep them clean and dust-free.

 Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiment which has just been described and shown. Many detailed modifications can be made without departing from the scope of the invention.

Claims (2)

 1. Package of trays which can be stacked nested, one inside the other, characterized in that it comprises a first plastic element (1) in the form of a bowl with a bottom (5) and a side wall (8) terminated by a rim (14) and intended to contain a number of trays (3) stacked and nested one inside the other and a second plastic element (2) also affecting a bowl shape with a bottom (9 ) and a side wall (12), and having dimensions corresponding to the interior of the tray (3) from above, in order to be inserted therein, the side wall (12) being extended by a rim (10) substantially parallel to the bottom (9), the edges of the first and second elements being fixed by welding points.  2. Tray packaging according to claim 1, characterized in that at least one of the elements (1, 2) is transparent.
