Abstract
- Produit à usage ophtalmologique constitué par une base de silicone. - Selon l'invention, le silicone est soumis à l'action d'un plasma puis est ensuite trempé dans une solution de poly(vinylpyrrolidone) qui constitue une couche externe hydrophile. Applications: amélioration du drainage des liquides physiologiques notamment dans les sondes.
Description
PRODUIT OPHTALMOLOGIQUE.
La présente invention a pour objet un produit destiné en particulier, mais non exclusivement, à un usage
ophtalmologique et son procédé de fabrication.
On utilise en ophtalmologie de nombreux inserts tels que des sondes mono ou bicanaliculaires posées dans les canalicules lacrymaux, tubes de lacorhinostomie etc. Les conduits sont destinés à drainer des liquides physiologiques par exemple entre un méat et le nez. Ces conduits sont actuellement réalisés en silicone, matériau qui présente l'avantage d'être souple, biocompatible, tout en étant biologiquement inerte. Malheureusement, le silicone est un matériau hydrophobe, c'est à dire qu'il est mal adapté à la conduite de liquides physiologiques. Le problème se pose également avec d'autres inserts tels que des bouchons méatiques ou des kératoprothèses à optique en silicone etc., en contact avec
le film lacrymal.
La présente invention a pour objet de pallier cet inconvénient et de permettre l'obtention d'un matériau à base de silicone qui soit, au moins superficiellement hydrophile tout en conservant ses caractéristiques mécaniques (souplesse, dureté) et ses qualités
physiologiques avec résistance à l'environnement.
Selon l'invention, le conduit ophtalmologique constitué de silicone est caractérisé en ce que le silicone est entouré par une couche externe de poly(vinylpyrrolidone) ( désigné
par la suite par PVP).
L'invention concerne également un procédé de fabrication d'un tel produit caractérisé en ce qu'il consiste à: - soumettre le produit en silicone à l'action d'un plasma électrique de type oxydant, puis à - tremper le produit ainsi traité dans une solution aqueuse
de PVP.
Dans un premier temps, le silicone est soumis à l'action d'un plasma. Ce plasma, constitué par du gaz ionisé effectue à la surface du silicone une attaque créant, par arrachement d'électrons et d'atomes, des radicaux libres qui forment des sites chimiques d'accrochage. Les molécules de PVP viennent s'accrocher durablement sur lesdits sites pour former une couche hydrophile. Cette méthode de traitement par gaz
plasma autorise le traitement d'objets à géométrie complexe.
Le bombardement est effectué à l'intérieur d'un réacteur constitué par un tube dans lequel circule un flux gazeux sous vide dynamique primaire de 1 à 2 torrs entre deux électrodes délivrant une puissance de 50 à 100 watts pendant une durée de quelques minutes. Le gaz utilisé est par exemple, de l'oxygène, de l'argon, de l'hélium ou de l'hydrogène. Les objets sont plongés immédiatement après dans une solution aqueuse à 1% de PVP. Après quelques minutes, les objets sont retirés et séchés à l'air chaud. Ils sont alors revêtus d'une couche adhérente et de faible épaisseur de PVP. D'autres corps autres que la PVP peuvent être utilisés tels que des agents tensioactifs comme des polyoxyéthylènes, alcools polyvinyliques, ou des polymères tels que les polyacryliques, les polyacrylamides ou les cellulosiques etc. Il va de soi que de nombreuses variantes peuvent être apportées, notamment par substitution de moyens techniques
équivalents, sans sortir pour cela du cadre de l'invention.
Claims (3)
1 Produit ophtalmologique constitué de silicone caractérisé en ce que le silicone est entouré par une couche externe adhérente et de faible épaisseur d'un
polymère ou d'un corps tensioactif.
2 Produit ophtalmologique selon la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce que le corps tensioactif est de la poly(vinylpyrrolidone).
3 Procédé de fabrication d'un produit selon les
revendications 1 et 2, caractérisé en ce qu'il consiste
a: - soumettre le produit en silicone à l'action d'un plasma électrique oxydant, puis à - tremper le produit ainsi traité dans une solution
aqueuse de poly(vinylpyrrolidone).
