Abstract

The ceiling has edge sections (1), cross-sections (2) and spacers (3) made of machined wood, fireproofed fibre board, or extruded plastics. Each of these parts has a lower section (5) which takes the form of a moulding or decorative motif, and an upper section (6) which is narrower, the difference in width of these two sections creating two rebates (7). The cross-pieces and spacers fit in these rebates because they are cut (8) so that the lower section fits around the width of the rebates. Square or rectangular panels of any thickness, and of any material will sit in these rebates. The horizontal surfaces of the rebates are all at the same level. The cross-pieces, spacers and panels can be installed without fixing devices. The edge sections are glued or screwed to the walls of the building and have a single rebate on their inner edge. These components can be provided in kit form.
