Abstract

The electric coffee making machine has a fixed fresh water reservoir which delivers water to an instant heating element (12) through a hole (20) in the bottom of the reservoir. A second removable fresh water reservoir (16) fits closely inside the fixed reservoir. The second reservoir has a valve (32 to 38) in the bottom. The valve is spring-loaded (38) so that when the second reservoir is removed from the coffee making machine the valve is closed. When the reservoir is put in place in the machine the valve is opened by a fixed projection in the base of the fixed reservoir. A sealing ring (44) encloses the outside of the valve assembly on the second reservoir to prevent water rising round the outside of the reservoir.
